Embarrassing. Spends over £100 million in a few weeks, with reportedly players on close to 100k a week, and still ends up bottom of the league.

We can now discount any chance of Fulham finishing near the bottom - although they should really have been in the top 10 by now, anyway.

Spent loads, had 'ambition', played nice football. Can't understand what's gone wrong here.

And what exactly has Ranieri done since that one season at Leicester?

Quite right Lancs.

When he arrived at Leicester I was convinced they'd go down and he worked a miracle, helped massively by Ngolo Kante.

I like Ranieri; but I suspect this could go wrong

Jokanovic did very well to take them up (and playing with some style). They didnt seem to start off too badly this season but obviously going through a bad patch. Easy to see why the owners were tempted to get shut but, as per usual, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. It's going to cost them a bit in pay-offs (I think Jok was only contracted to the end of this season though) and new players (assuming Claudio will get some spending money) but if they scrape their way to 17th, that will be seen as well worth it.

It'll be interesting to see if it affects the bookies odds on relegation but Cardiff, Hudd & Fulham are currently all odds on (we're next just better than evens!).

Not sure about this one to be honest. If they just want someone to keep them up for a year or 2 Allardyce would be a better bet in my opinion. Apart from one season at Leicester Ranieri has never really set the world alight, and there's lots of rumours that Craig Shakespeare was the main brains behind that success anyway.

Allerdyce would have been a good choice in principle. But I am not sure they have the sort of players that Allerdyce would like.

Ranieri would probably be more suited with this squad. Ranieri is a good manager. And irrespective of it being a one off with Leicester, you dont win the league if you arent a good manager. Kante and Mahrez are / were world class players. But beyond that it was excellent management.

Hopefuly for us it doesnt work out. But I am sure it will.

Its a strange one with Jokanovic though as he showed himself as a good manager to get them up in the first place with an average squad. Spending has been a little sporadic since. But its like the De Boer situation last season where the press have hounded him after a few poor results.

I still think it will be Huddersfield Cardiff and Newcastle anyway.

Seeing a lot of complaining about the “rich foreign owner” on here. Fact is it’s just a different way of operating at Fulham, and Wolves.

Precedent was set when they both binned half the teams that got them promoted last season. Wolves did it well, Fulham did it badly. There’s no “right way” to go about survival when it comes to loyalty.

Both will burn through managers if results aren’t right (Wolves would’ve done the same with Nuno if they shared Fulham’s position).

I hope Fulham go down now.

Exactly what is wrong with the game. Jokanovic performs a miracle and gets them promoted, playing good football. 4 months in to the season and gets sacked! Spending £100m on random players may have been his main let down, perhaps he should have given some of the squad who got them up a chance.

No one can expect loyalty in football from players/managers when things like this happen.

I reckon with Ranieri in place they will go down. However, having said that didn't he also do quite well in France recently (Nantes?) - why did they get rid? There was also some stats on the Beeb's website that suggested that changing your manager at this stage of the season - more often than not - does work.

I also watched Fulham against Liverpool on Sunday - it wouldn't have taken much for them to have won that game.

To be fair, our board showed faith and loyalty to SD when we went down.

I, for one, am glad we still have both parties in place.

Wasn’t a miracle in all honesty. Fulham’s aim has been promotion ever since their relegation, and they’ve had money behind it.

That being said, most if not all of the money spent wasn’t on Jokanovic’s request. Isn’t like it is at Burnley - Jokanovic doesn’t control transfers, he was simply the head coach.

Fulham are still going down they have no leadership on the pitch and Arnoutavic is getting found out as Rafa thought he would. Without his goals Fulham are doomed

Arnaoutivic is doing pretty well despite what Mark Hughes thought. He is west Hams top scorer.

Wolves haven't binned half their Championship winning team.

You are right. Premier leagues are often won by teams without a manager capable of doing it....

UTC rules state you're not allowed to say a club is a joke if they've spent more money and shown more daring in the transfer market than Burnley.

Apparently it's the recipe for success, along with the pretty football according to some on here.

I saw their game on TV against Liverpool. They both defended and attacked reasonably well and were not overrun as might have been expected.

I'm assuming that you mean Mitrovic? Hasn't he scored 5 already in 12 games? That's quite good for a team in the bottom 3. Even better when you consider no one in our team has more than 2.

It's not the first time a club that spends big over summer does poorly and sacks the manager.

I'm inclined to think any manager (to an extent) would do well taking over at Fulham

The board of BFC showed loyalty to Dyche following relegation bearing in mind that he had been working with limited transfer funds and player resources.

Would they have been so forgiving if £100m plus had been spent on transfers during the previous summer?

Fulham are an excellent club and play very attractive football. Any manager who has lost 6 on the trot will be under heavy pressure and the owner has finally caved in and decided to change. From the pool of out of work managers, It’s hard to imagine many better choices than Raniero- I’m sure he’ll do well

Don't know what to make of this. Think its extremely harsh on Jokanovic, who I don't think will be too damaged by this; but that being said he spent a lot and it was bound to have to be an instant thing... and you don't get much more "not a good start" than Fulham.... so no real surprise.

Ranieri, I've rated as a very top drawer manager who demands and deserves respect, even before he landed the title at Leicester. I don't think it needs Columbo to work out what happened the season after tbh and it had more to do with ego's than ability (an accusation similar has been made against our own merry men on this very board this season, about which I shall make no comment here).

I think Fulham have got rid of a bloody good manager, and got themselves another. They've been cold and clinical about it but I can't on balance argue with their logic. I think it is bad news for relegation zone (I think they'd have ended safe anyway) but I remain confident that wont be any real concern to us either.

Yes.

Remember, we gave Brian Laws a new contract so they have enormous loyalty to whoever is in charge.

Wouldn't quite say that otherwise he wouldn't have worked in Greece prior to the Leicester gig. The top managers like Mourinho, Guardiola etc. tend to get offered the best jobs going. There is a reason why Ranieri hasn't, even afterwards.

I think everyone in the footballing world was surprised at what hid did at Leicester as there was no indication he was capable of winning the league.

I don't think anyone in England was blaming Brian Laws for that relegation.... and we'd just battered Spurs. I wasn't impressed with Brian Laws appointment purely as the time for that to happen had gone. However I hold nothing but respect and admiration for Brian Laws, bad a spell as we had, we've (most of us) lived through far worse.
