He looks a player! So exciting to watch, just shows how not staying in the youth/reserves until 22/23 years old can pay off. It was a brave decision at his age to go to Dortmund but it seems to be paying off.

Like most, ive only seen fleeting glimpses of Sancho in Champions League and on BT sport's bundesliga programme and was hoping the build up wasn't overhyped; we're very good at destroying young players in this country with inflated expectations.
I must say I was well impressed by his confidence and work rate, his touch is fantastic and has end product too. I don't want to get carried away as that was a terrible USA team with loads missing, but if he can show that against more established countries we'll be in for an exciting watch

Been saying for years, young english players should get some balls and go and play abroad. Rather than rot on 20k a week in the reserves.

Not only will they benefit from playing regular, they will benefit from different styles, tactics and even culture.

More will start doing it I am sure. It would also be better to see more established players do the same.

I'd like to see premier league clubs stopped from having youth academy programs. In 2017/18 England were World champs at u17, U20 and Euro winners at U19. We'll only ever see a tiny percentage fulfil their potential though because of lack of game time or given too much too young (obviously there are other factors).

If that talent, which is clearly there, had to learn their trade in the lower leagues and fight there way to a move to the big 6 and the big bucks it would be a different story. Plus it would filter money down through the league's in transfer fees. It's probably illegal in terms of employment law but I'd put in rules that premier league clubs could only sign them when they reach a certain age / had played a number of games or had been called up to the full England team.

I was excited to hear he would be playing and that he would start. I watched in anticipation but while I think he is going to be good or very good I have to say by the end I was disappointed, maybe I just built him up to much in my mind.

I really enjoyed the triangles and the runs behind the defense he occasionally made and these make me think he is one for the future but his shooting was awful and never looked like scoring but yes he had an assist and am very happy to see quite a few of the younger, fringe, reserve England players on view. I don't believe he will be playing against Croatia but depending on the score and how we are playing he might be given a late chance to shine or turn the game, which he might be capable of.

Don't think he can be compared with Wilson as play different positions with different expected outcomes.

He is 18 and playing regularly and very well for Dortmund. He is definitely a talent.

Rooneys and Owens are very rare. In that they are world beaters at that age. Most dont make the break through until much later, especially these days. Sterling made his debut at 18 but didnt play again for a few years. Kane was almost 22.

This would be a fair point if he was a centre mid or centre half. Simple stats will tell you even the very best players in his position will top the charts for giving the ball away. That’s the trade off when your job is to create and take risks.

Debut, assist, and the fullback never looked comfortable against him. A good, promising performance.

Me and StAlbans Claret and our non-Burnley fan mate are having a weekend in Dortmund at the end to the month. We've managed to get tickets for Borussia Dortmund v. SC Freiburg. Very hopeful of seeing Jaydon Sancho live in a 'I was there' moment like seeing Paul Gascoigne as a kid playing for Newcastle United v. Chelsea in early 1988. Should be good.

Fair play to him for going over to Germany to play. Could have easily taken the easy option and probably earnt 15/20 grand a week playing for the Under 23s at City. Compare his development with Foden who has stayed at City and gets the occasional League cup game.

Needs to stay abroad as long as possible, if he goes to the English top 6 he will get ruined and underplayed
