It's about the visit of Cornthian Casuals, then of the Ryman League (level 8), to Brazil to play the opening match of Corinthian Paulista of Sao Paulo, in their new 47,000 stadium. The Brazilian fans chose Corinthians ahead of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona. This match was also used to mark one that did not take place in 1914 because of the outbreak of WW1.

It's a lovely film, especially when we meet Brazilian fans who come to visit the English club in South London, and finally in Brazil as the players are mobbed by fans and the actual match.

Pretty moving stuff!

Corinthians should also be celebrated in these parts as they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in the FA Cup in 1924. Blackburn were still one of the top sides then, and only a decade earlier had gained 2 First division titles, whilst winning the Cup themselves in 1928. Corinthians of course were total amateurs, and didn’t belong to a League.

It kind of puts our loss to the full time professionals of Lincoln *shudder* into perspective a little.

It’s back on ITV player if anyone is interested.
Really nice to see the level of passion the Brazilians have to see & help the club which inspired their founding.
