Jacob Rees Mogg.
- and his plans for world domination [well not quite].
This is where it all started for JRM - a BBC radio interview when Jacob was twelve, in 1981..it lasts 1 min...24sec
He spotted Tony Benn early on as 'The Enemy'..

As much as Tony Benn was an enthralling speaker, he WAS the enemy. Quite like his son though, even if he is a remainer. If my memory serves me right, Tony Benn was as anti EU as JRM though for different reasons maybe.hampsteadclaret wrote:- and his plans for world domination [well not quite].

These are scary times for politics in the UK. Especially when I, an undereducated pleb, find many MPs, including those on the front and shadow bench, to be most underwhelming, even thick.

I've got a great idea: let's start another post, where we can knock the Tories and call them names. It should go down well with the usual lefties on here.

I don't think you need to be a "leftie" - whatever that might be - to dislike JRM for being the self-serving, duplicitious scumbag that he is.Vino blanco wrote:I've got a great idea: let's start another post, where we can knock the Tories and call them names. I don't like the name calling either. Let's look at his voting record instead, and decide from that what kind of MP he is (or indeed what kind of PM he might make):Vino blanco wrote:I've got a great idea: let's start another post, where we can knock the Tories and call them names. It doesn't give you the complete picture of the man, but there are some general trends that hint toward his political inclinations. I would draw your attention most to the fact he's rich and never suffered poverty, yet consistently voted against helping people who are poor. When it comes to asking the rich to bear more of a burden, his human side comes out, and he says "no"
He's a rich man in parliament, looking after the interests of rich people.

Not sure how any normal person can actually like JRM. Even if you're a Brexit voter, and you identify with his vision of a hard Brexit, at the back your mind you must still think he's a complete tool.

You are clearly unfamiliar with the old adage about political party conferences, " If you want a few drinkies and the chance of a little " extra-curricular " activity, then attend the Conservative conference, but if you want to gorge yourself & eat and drink like a King, with free flowing Champagne, then Labour is the conference for you "
To address your point, I think it's fair to say that there are arguments on both sides .....

Interestingly, he has been busy moving a trust fund from a company that he helped establish to Ireland as he is worried about the financial risks involved after Brexit.
