Saturday game without the Turf
Anybody heading to a game today with ours not till Monday?
Seen Colne advertising a lot today and know there’s a lot of FA Trophy games on today.
Tough choice of Altrincham v Bradford Park Avenue or Rochdale v Accy Stanley for me today.

Think I'll try to pick up a link for PNE v Venkys. Could be quite tasty.

Since the start of the season we’ve only had 2 Saturday home games.
One of the major downsides of the premiere league.

I think it’s part of the reason why I’ve lost interest in football, don’t get me wrong I still love watching Burnley I just miss the days of going out at 12 every Saturday for football. I’m being dragged to Christmas shopping today

None Saturday games must affect local businesses. I''ll bet some pubs are feeling the pinch, people don't tend to go for pre-match drinks for night games and Sunday lunchtimes. Call me old fashioned if you like but I want my football at 3.00 on Saturday.

Get up, breakfast out, pub, turf, pub, takeaway. More than just pubs losing out I reckon.Sykoclaret wrote:None Saturday games must affect local businesses. I went to watch Queen of the South beat Highland league club Formartine United 4-1 in the Scottish Cup.
I didn't know that Formartine's assistant manager is an ex-claret, Russell Anderson, who made four loan appearances in Coyle's promotion season.

Re: Saturday game without the Turf
This is from memory but i think he played early in the season, after our poor start he helped steady the ship, and tightened the defence up considerably.Nonayforever wrote:He was really impressive in those games and looked very handy.
He then got a serious injury which i'm pretty sure kept him out for the season.
Re: Saturday game without the Turf
I like games to be moved from Saturday - it means on Saturday afternoon I can usually get to one of Colne FC, Accrington Stanley, or horse racing, and still watch Burnley next day when there's nowt else on.

Anderson played well in those four games for us.
He was very popular within the squad as well and was there with the team at Wembley.

Re: Saturday game without the Turf
He was excellent in a. 2-0 win at home to Blackpool if I remember rightly, and was indeed as Bordeaux says at Wembley with the squad.
I thought Coyle had a stroke of luck with his other loan signing Rhys Williams who I always thought was an accident waiting to happen but was ineligible for the play offs and Duffo stepped in and as usual didn’t let us down.
