Aye, I was thinking that. It's not the end of half time though, so going to make a drastic change and go 3-1 Arsenal.ElectroClaret wrote:Bang goes the 0-2, Frank.

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
For all that Howe/Bournemouth seems to be the latest stick to beat Dyche/Burnley with (see Huddersfield/Wolves/Fulham) I don't think there will be much between the two sides come the end of the season.
Wolves to beat Huddersfield but sense this may be another occasion when they struggle to turn their overall superiority into a comfortable winning margin.

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
Certainly anything but a Huddersfield win, that would move them up from 20th to 14th and leave us just one point from bottom.
Our boys were taking part in an intense training session at Gawthorpe this morning, so let's hope they all realise the seriousness of our situation and are ready to take three points from Newcastle.

Hudders started very well, Wolves look a shadow of the team that destroyed us
Re: Today's Prem Predictions
We really have a talent for handing teams top performances. Good few times this season I’ve seen opposition fans talking about how they’re “playing the best football they’ve seen in ages”, about 10 minutes into a game against us.Vegas Claret wrote:Hudders started very well, Wolves look a shadow of the team that destroyed us

Tbf to Wolves they were supposedly very good away against Arsenal last week, and have been in a number of games.SGr wrote:We really have a talent for handing teams top performances. Probably because Huddersfield are pressing them about 30 yards further up the pitch than we did.Vegas Claret wrote:Hudders started very well, Wolves look a shadow of the team that destroyed us

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
A Huddersfield win here will put us under real pressure.
Coming into December with 9 points (maximum 12) isn't what we would have anticipated.
I honestly think we will struggle to make 18 points by New Year.
What a difference a Year makes

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
it puts a huge amount of pressure on Rigg and the Chairman to spend some serious money in January because unless we fail to sign at least 2 serious upgrades to our first team (lads that walk straight into the team) then we will get relegatedJohnMac wrote:A Huddersfield win here will put us under real pressure.

Why will we definitely be relegated if we don't sign anyone?Vegas Claret wrote:it puts a huge amount of pressure on Rigg and the Chairman to spend some serious money in January because unless we fail to sign at least 2 serious upgrades to our first team (lads that walk straight into the team) then we will get relegated

It will be unusual for us to spend money BUT I can't disagree.
Unless we grasp the seriousness of this season then it will end up in tears

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
Because so far this season what we have hasn't been remotely good enough. Look through the history of football, any successful team (which we were last season) always recruit recruit in the transfer window to add competition and give the lads a boost. Rovers won the league then didn't sign anyone and to this day those players all say that the cub let them down by not signing players.Spijed wrote:Why will we definitely be relegated if we don't sign anyone?
With respect, I know you've got serious claret tinted specs but I don't see any sensible argument from you to say why we will stay up if we don't help out the first team ? 'Because we finished 7th last year" isn't an argument btw

Could have been 2-0 at the end of that half.

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
For a start, with regards to Rovers, it hardly EVER happens that a team successfully defends a league title. In recent times only Man U. have done it. Secondly, there are a few clubs that haven't spent much on players at the bottom so at least one or two are bound to survive. Alsi, Spurs came in for plenty of criticism for not signing anyone but they are currently outperforming teams like Chelsea.Vegas Claret wrote:Because so far this season what we have hasn't been remotely good enough. Re: Today's Prem Predictions
Look at the purpose Huddersfield are playing with and the amount of bodies they are getting forward. Dyche would be sitting off and allowing Wolves to play themselves into the game.

You press against teams you think you can beat. Why we don't do this, is beyond me.RocketLawnChair wrote:Probably because Huddersfield are pressing them about 30 yards further up the pitch than we did.
I'm repeating myself but England last Sunday was the best example of pressing I've seen in a long long time. Teams should be watching every second of that game.

Because other teams will make signings and catch up/overtake us on quality. Just like many did in summer when we p*ssed around then.Spijed wrote:Why will we definitely be relegated if we don't sign anyone?
Please, let’s not ignore history’s warnings yet again.
Re: Today's Prem Predictions
From what I've seen of them this season they look much better than us. If you take away the 3 points we somehow stole at Cardiff we'd be bottom.Spijed wrote:Prior to this game Huddersfield were at the bottom for a reason...

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
you took the rovers thing literally. Them not signing players led to them consistently falling further down the league - my point was never about retaining the league, you need to work on reading between the lines !! Spurs, different kettle of fish, have consistently improved their squad and haven't spent this season because of the ground refurb.Spijed wrote:For a start, with regards to Rovers, it hardly EVER happens that a team successfully defends a league title. Many of us pointed out in the summer than the PL was changing and we have been correct. Teams work just as hard as we do and pass the ball better than we do leaving us scrambling for shots on goal in most games. Now, I'm hopeful Defour and Brady will have a huge effect on the second half of the season BUT we gambled in this first half of the season by not getting the required signings in in the summer. Can you explain why on earth we bought Vydra for a good sized fee and he never plays ? We need better players and we need a change in style if we want to stay in the PL. Now, if the club don't want to stay in the league because we can't afford it then come out and say so then we can all finally accept the lack of ambition at first team level. Barnfield looks superb and the club deserve huge credit for doing things correctly, but they have to invest in the first team this January or we will have the best training facility in the Championship.

Got to give it 'Udders.
They've done a job on Wolves so far.
And played some decent footy doing it.

Re: Today's Prem Predictions
We have slowly dropped in the table as this weekends results have come in, there really is no excuse for not getting 3 points tomorrow.
Re: Today's Prem Predictions
You say we are going to be relegated if don't spend anything in Jan. Why doesn't that argument apply to the likes of Cardiff, Huddersfield, Southampton, Newcastle, palace, Fulham as etc if they spend Nowt come January?Vegas Claret wrote:you took the rovers thing literally. Aside from Fulham, none of the other sides have spent much yet we seem to be the only team in your eyes who are going to go down through lack of spending.

They all will spend, just depends how well they spend it and the same applies to us.
