Vydra

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:00 pm

If only we bought this lad in summer. We might have had that creative spark and pace up top we desperately need.

Hopefully we are in for him in January.

I mentioned on the match thread that I'd have started him. If you don't start him at home to Newcastle, you never will.

I just do not understand the logic of the transfer or wtf we were playing at this summer.

Our best ever opportunity to push on. And the outfield players we signed have started 3 times between them. Pi55 poor.

I question SD quite a lot, to be fair. Vydra is the perfect player to start when you go 4-4-2 / 4-4-1-1. I just don't get it. He's a player who often nicks goals from nothing.

Decent PL strikers cost a lot more than Vydra.

Don’t disagree but there were plenty on here creaming themselves when we signed Hart and Gibson.

Individually good signings.

But in the grand scheme of things its not improved us

Hart takes us to where we were. I.e. a very good keeper. Gibson was the backup / future cb we needed.

The entire outfield 10 in all but 3 games this season has been past seasons 10. Even the best teams cant afford to stand still like that.

Criminal.

Vydra and wells combined transfer fee not far off 20 million . We would of been better saving the money

Bringing on Barnes who has been here for ages, and Hendrick who has for over 2 seasons, when we stumped up for him this summer is madness.

If not today then when? A (potential) genuine difference maker sat on the bench.

Wells was signed in case of injury. Only fans who can see into the future can say he was a waste.

Surely if we'd signed a striker in case of injury it would have been one who offered the same qualities as the injured players he was replacing, not entirely different.

Haha no. Had he been injured for a year, you'd have a point. Admit it - you're making a statement after the event. You're commenting because we didn't play him enough, so you're rewinding the clock and acting like it was never a sound move. Had we had injuries, we'd have need him and you'd have never have commented.

So now, I want Wednesdays lotto numbers please.

Called this lad the new Hennings/Wells the minute he signed, if I could be bothered I’d drag the post up where I suggested if he signed we would see him make about ten appearances all season mostly from the bench.

So obvious - he was never wanted here. I imagine his signing is the reason Dyche insisted after the window on the club appointing a Technical Director.

For all those thinking he’s the answer, I refer you to his goals/game ratio at this level for us and West Brom (4 goals in 29 games). There’s a reason he’s not starting.

At West Brom he was 21 and playing for a shite team. I've seen enough of him at Championship level to know he's better than what we've got in the team now.

I would imagine the reason he is not starting or playing is the sd never wanted him here in the 1st place.
Sd wanted others which the board didn't deliver and they gave him Vydra.

Who ever isn't playing we pin our hopes on, not long ago it was Brady today was constantly slagging him off. What If Vydra plays and doesn't do well?
I for one can't see Defour setting the world alight like he did in previous seasons, yet he seems devoid of criticism.
Hendrick meanwhile also seems to have improved the less we play him...

No. Just another pointless forward signing. Add to hennings, vossen, wells, juke, sordell.... and countless others that were obviously never going to work!

Did anyone else notice how often Wood dropped deeper to come and pick the ball up and then lose it or pass backwards? Don’t know if this was instructional but feel like Vydra may have been able to play this role better tonight. Very odd seen as he played relatively well against Bournemouth with Vokes.

Wood missed half a dozen chances and set up their goal too.

To be fair to him he gets on the end of chances a lot - but he has to take some.

Dyche’s mentality though is that he will give a big guy 10 chances and a little guy only 1 (generalising). Vydra must consider himself unfortunate.

I see the 80 post Dyche Out thread has disappeared. That is a head in the sand mentality worthy of Theresa May - want him out or not, it is now a legitimate discussion after 2 embarrassing cup exits, squandering our once in a lifetime European Tour, and one point off bottom with less entertainment than any other team.

Smells of a panic signing. Someone who he didn’t really want but shat himself when he knew we wouldn’t get JRod.

Wasn't there an opportunity for him to go to Leeds before we signed him? Bet he's kicking himself now, although he wanted Premier League football I believe. Looks like he was a signing to appease the fans, imo.

You wouldn`t find a racehorse giving rides with the donkeys on Blackpool beach, Dyche doesn`t like pacey players, they want the ball on the floor to run onto, SD only permits hoofball tatics.

Feels like a panic buy instigated by an agent and our chairman. Looks like a waste of money in hindsight but at the tine we all were desperate for any success in what was a shocking window.

To tjink we could have spent the money for Vydra and Wells on Rodriguez who at least would jhave played

Vydra looked great at Derby. In the short spells I’ve seen here, he looks a little off the pace, but he’s already shown enough potential. He’s perfect to play off the striker. Defour spent most of the game looking for someone to pass to in that position. Vydra would have slotted in nicely today... I don’t think we will see much of him unfortunately. I’m tempted to say if JBG was fit then he wouldn’t have made the bench!
