I’m not trying to defend Dyche but since when has £13m been “not far off £20m” ?Reecey1987 wrote:Vydra and wells combined transfer fee not far off 20 million . We would of been better saving the money
As for Vydra we do need a player who is different to our other strikers - cleverer and more mobile / ability to run the channels etc.
Vydra played well v Bournemouth but that is the only time I have seen him play well for us. In the rest of his appearances for us he has looked lightweight and offered us little - if anyone can point out another game where he played well i’m happy to stand corrected.
The problem here for me is the signing itself. Why have we signed Vydra ? He has never done it in this league and whilst he had a good season last year you need to ask yourself why he has changed clubs in the championship a few times and hardly ever been in the Premier League.
Yes it maybe baffling when we are struggling so much that he is not getting a chance - but I think that is our fans hoping he is better than he actually is. There is nothing in his career to suggest he is good enough.
Long and the short is that we should have been buying better players than Vydra in the summer - and we had no excuses financially and for once we had no excuses in terms of players thinking they may be coming to a club struggling to survive in the league (even though we clearly are now !)

Wasn’t he injured when we signed him ?Hendrickxz wrote:My brother in law and nephew suppost dirt Leeds ( because they live there) Apparently they g ot Vydra over there before he signed for us and found him to be unfit and overweight and decided Burnley could have him if they wanted him. Yep - getting over a groin injury I think.joey13 wrote:Wasn’t he injured when we signed him ?
Do not believe the Leeds thing for one second. They would have snapped Vydra up given the chance. They are crying out still for a goalscorer

Re: Vydra
Vydra has started both matches that we have won this season- as said up the thread, he can conjure something from nothing.
After that (albeit turgid) win at Cardiff, Dyche sang his praises in interview after being questioned about his attributes and how he fit into the mix. He has played 2 mins for us since then and 120 for Czech Republic.
It is funny how some players are written off so quickly and others are afforded weeks of ‘ineffective’ performances before being dropped. It does seem a case of Nakhi Wells revisited. I find the omission of Dwight McNeill equally confusing. He should have been on the bench last night as the only natural wide man.

Re: Vydra
Players always tend to find that a spell out of the team enhances their reputation, and Vydra is no different. He's certainly not good enough to single handedly transform our fortunes and there must be reasons why Dyche isn't playing him. He's not in the business of cutting of his nose to spite his face.
But...it is very odd. Vydra and Vokes showed signs of a really promising partnership against Bournemouth, Dyche picked Vydra's movement out for praise after the Cardiff game...and then he's disappeared without trace, give or take an hour at West Ham when the whole team was indifferent and the midfield of Westwood and an unfit Defour badly outgunned. Last night looked like a situation tailor-made for an attacker comfortable both pulling short to receive the ball to feet between the lines, and also breaking into the channels behind the wing back. Defour was regularly looking for that runner, we know Vokes likes to link up with that sort of movement, we were losing and looking generally a bit disjoined - but the change never came.
Certainly, presuming he's fit, I'd like to see him start on Saturday.

If he isnt good enough its even worse than him not playing.
The most cautious club in the market yet we have spunked a frightening amount on fees and wages for players who have contributed the square route of nothing. Almost £30m in fees alone for 7 strikers who have one premier league goal between them for us!
Vydra £12m, Wells £5m, Juke £3m, Sordell 500k, Hennings £1.5m, Vossen £3m, Walters £2m
Thankfully, Wood at £18m at least did something last season.
