If you want a referee who is going to encourage diving, cheating, frequent stoppages in play, and constant fouling, he is your man. And the only time he played advantage was when there wasn't one.

Re: RATE THE REF - Anthony Taylor v Newcastle
He had a shocking game in a game that was easy to referee. There were no big calls to make, yet time and time again he got it wrong. I can only assume Sky had told him no more than 4 minutes added time because that was a joke.
How many times did he point to his watch to indicate time added on?
How many times was he forced to use his whistle to force Newcastle to get on with it?
How many times did he have Ben Mee and Cork come up to him pleading that he tell Newcastle to get on with it?
Did he forget about the 30 seconds were he had to get the fourth official to help him with his watch (or whatever it was)?
What about the subs?
And the, at least, two occasions when the physio came on?
Four minutes? Nonsense.

Guess I saw a different game to you then: I thought the ref was very good, didn't interrupt the flow of the game for petty little fouls and got most decisions right.

How did Newcastle get away with 1 booking, at least 4 fouls were its a booking every day of the week 2 of them he didn't even talk to the player.
Abysmal perfornmance.

15 unfortunately he consistently made wrong decisions

At least Taylor got two major decisions correct i.e. he blew the whistle at the start and the end of each half.
Those decisions apart, one of the most inept, appalling displays of refereeing I have witnessed during my 60 years of watching the Clarets. Unfortunately the performance of the team was not one of the best from the past 60 years either! Why do referees apparently refuse to award yellow cards when a game is being televised ? Are they trying to prove they are too superior to award cards and that they are able control a game without using cards ?

Agree about potential bookings, but overall thought he had a decent / good game, and let a lot of 50 / 50 challenges go, allowing the game to flow. e.g. only penalised Burnley 6 times.Shore claret wrote:How did Newcastle get away with 1 booking, at least 4 fouls were its a booking every day of the week 2 of them he didn't even talk to the player.
Abysmal performance.
Some will disagree, but I prefer this to those who blow up at every opportunity and throw cards around like confetti.

Re: RATE THE REF - Anthony Taylor v Newcastle
Taylor got taken out in the second half, the ref put his hand to his pocket to get a card out, saw that Taylor was getting up so took his hand away and carried on. It’s almost as though it’s the level of rolling around that determines whether a card is given!!

Re: RATE THE REF - Anthony Taylor v Newcastle
one of those where every time we have him i think 'well at least he can't be worse than last time.'
and every time he proves me wrong.
zero authority and let far too many late challenges go of the kind we'll pick up bookings for next week. the diame one on cork was bad enough but he then proceeded to get away with another 4 or 5 fouls without a card.
