Out Of Their Skin - ITV4

Post by fidelcastro » Wed Nov 28, 2018 4:28 pm

First part was on last night, second one tonight.

Very moving testimonies from some of the black players involved in the bad old days, particularly Paul Cannoville, who was the first black player to play for Chelsea.

We've come a long way in the forty years since Viv Anderson represented England, and it's one thing the game is better for!

Didn't know Paul Cannoville's story till I watched this. What strength of character. What an achievement.

He has an award winning autobiography, which came out a few years back called 'Black and Blue'. I've never read it, but I think I might now after seeing this!

As you say, amazing strength of character he must've had to not just pack it all in. :(

Decent watch so far. Funny to look back at the stick Ashley Cole got, in hindsight made absolutely the right decision to leave Arsenal.

Caught last night's but missed the first one.I can remember playing Chelsea 1983 and distinctly remember Paul Cannoville getting dogs abuse off his own fans also an ex Spurs player Hazzard ( I think) getting some unsavoury chants when he missed a chance.Always thought along with West Ham their fans were the worst encountered in the 70s and 80s.
