Keep Tarks away from the starting lineup on current form.

Been one of our better players this season. Poor at West Ham but has been better than his partner. I would have Gibson and Tarks starting nowMurger wrote:Keep Tarks away from the starting lineup on current form.

Not a chance in hell of Ben Mee being dropped. To be honest there is so much wrong with us at the minute making minor team changes would be like shuffling deckchairs around on the Titanic.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
With our poor possession stats we need to have ball players on the pitch.
I love Ben Mee, as brave as a lion, but I've said for a long time that , if fit, Tarks and Gibson should be the starters.
I don't think it's going to happen though. It's maybe going to need a new disaster like Hull at christmas to get SD to see that changes, in the right areas, are needed.

If it's ball-players on the pitch that you deem to be essential then Ben Mee would never have played a game for us in the last six years. Replace any player for poor form but not for a lack of something they just don't do.

Time for Dyche to try and stick to a settled line up and formation for the next few games.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
Nothing wrong with any of the 4. Everybody has the occasional poor game. It’s the protection in front of them that has been our downfall this season.
Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
We missed JBG on Monday. Good to see he has shaken off the bug that had felled him prior to the game.
Hendrick to come into midfield for Cork...
Why drop Kevin Long after his towering performance to bring back Tarka....
A lot was made about Newcastle playing 3 at the back on Monday night. I feel with Ben Gibson between Long and Mee/Tarky we could play a similar formation.
How about 3-5-2
Heaton
Long, Gibson Mee
Lennon Defour Hendrick Westy JBG
Vydra
Vokes

Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
Take your point but a settled side is usually a sign of a team performing well. We're quite a way off that currently and with a manager that doesn't appear to like making too many changes he is faced with something of a dilemma.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Time for Dyche to try and stick to a settled line up and formation for the next few games.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
I am convinced with they way we lined up on Monday and they way most the team played in the first half we would have won if JBG had played.
He has been a key player this season and it would have also avoided the negative contribution from Brady.

Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
I don't mind him not being a ball player, if he knew when to put the ball into touch, but at times he thinks he's Messi.Silkyskills1 wrote:If it's ball-players on the pitch that you deem to be essential then Ben Mee would never have played a game for us in the last six years. It's cost us and we can't afford to keep giving away cheap goals.
It's not all his fault, the way the midfield is set up, outnumbered, and the lack of movement from the front and wide men, he has few options. As captain, he should put the ball out , then rip into the team for not giving him an option.
Ball players on the pitch is the only way to improve our possession stats, which will improve our chances of creating something up top, which will relieve some of the pressure on the defence. Nearly all our bad results this season can be laid at our own door. It's not because the opposition are good, but because we have been so poor.
When we were successful without the ball, it was because we lost the ball in the opposition's half. This season we keep losing it in our own half, partly because players like Ben trying to do too much instead of keeping it simple.
IMO of course

Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
Great news, really missed him on monday , a good time to bring Tarks back, his injury had a big impact on his poor form but if he is back to full fitness he is needed in the team, same goes for Gibson. JBG is a must to start, along with Heaton, Vydra and Barnes in my book
Re: ARTICLE: JBG ready for Palace
We need a goalkeeper who is going to shout a lot. That will solve everything.

Joe Hart would be an all time legend if one of his family once went on a Burnley game or his Mum revealed he was conceived in the Kierby Hotel. It's like Royston Vasey around here.NL Claret wrote:We need a goalkeeper who is going to shout a lot. That will solve everything.

Same for me. Tarks was obviously suffering from injury during the West Ham game, but apart from that he has been better than Mee, by a fair margin, for the most part of the early season. Long has done nothing wrong, but I would prefer to see a Tarks/Gibson back two and see how that develops.
Great to have JBG back, he can just create those moments of magic we struggled for against Newcastle.

Easy excuses.
People have genuine reasons for reservations about Hart.
I would be right in thinking Pope is a southerner?
