Brooks/Maddison/Vydra

Post by claretcarrot93 » Fri Nov 30, 2018 4:13 pm

Three of the championships best players last season. Two have stepped up and performed well.

Just waiting on Vydra now. I still have faith when he finally starts.

He's good. Dyche won't use him. Why?

Fact: started two games - he has scored and we have won them both.

Dyche won't use him. Why?

Is he too creative? Does he have too much flair? Is he too quick?

For goodness sake someone tell me the answer - why will Dyche not use Vydra?

Pretty obvious Dyche doesn't like a flair player. Prefers a workhorse does the lad.

Did he not start in our 4-2 defeat against West Ham?

Not debating whether Dyche should play him as I think he should. Just your facts arent correct (I think)

Unless you’re over 6ft Dyche isn’t interested.
Dyche is tactically inept. He’s got away with poor tactics and not making subs in the past but now he’s being found out and it’s killing us.

Why did he sign him if he doesn't rate him or just likes lanky cart horses; that analysis just does not make sense .

He’s got miles more pedigree than those two.

Dyche does what he always does and stays loyal- we drew away well at Leicester before the newcastle game and I can’t be arsed checking but Vydra was probably away in Europe for a few days too.

He will get his chance.

It's actually absolute and utter f***ing drivel.

If they (the loony tunes) want to aim something at Dyche then it is that he likes to play with two forwards. Which is fine, but we just don't have the forwards or the midfield for that.

I’ve not seen anything yet to suggest Vydra is anything like the calibre of player we need. He’s more than halfway through his career now and has spent most of it in the second tier.

Maddison and Brooks are right at the start of theirs and look to have very bright futures ahead.

I’d happily swap Vydra for either.

Thought he’d scored in one game he started vs Bournemouth? He started the week after at Burton and Cardiff, but didn’t score. His other goal was after coming on as sub vs Olympiakos.

Spoke a Derby fan about him earlier this week. He said he's a good finisher but offers nothing to the team otherwise. So to accommodate him you have to build the team around him/to suit him. Maybe a bit like Howe did with Austin - he scored a lot of goals but we were nearer the bottom of the table than the top,

If that's accurate makes his signing all the more strange as he really doesn't seem to fit the usual profile. I can only imagine a dynamic, hard running, physical midfielder was on the shopping list to enable us to make better use of him.

If Vydra genuinely doesn't have a defensive side to his game - personally haven't seen enough of him to make that call - then starting him regularly in front of a midfield pairing of Cork and Defour would probably have turned out to be even more damaging than our already disappointing start.

Wonder if it is that, if we failed to make the other signing(s) that would have given us the security to give Vydra more starts/game time. Maybe that will be addressed in January?

Maybe Dyche needs to start choosing his forwards based on you know, how they can hurt the opposition rather than how hard they work or their ability to defend set pieces? Just a thought.

I understand there is the need to “cover”, but I’d prefer it if players would do the job they are primarily there for first.

I don’t want to see Vokes at centre back, or Mee on right wing, or Hart in midfield ;)

I’d swap pretty much every player in every PL club for Brooks. I can see him being at a top 6 club come the summer unless Bournemouth squeeze into Europe. Looks an absolute gem of a player

But I think Vydra is well suited to us. Not that we will ever see that... I can see him being at a top 6 club come the Summer too. Top 6 of the Championship

Can you please get with the narrative that signing Championship players shows no ambition and are not PL level :p

Vydra scored plenty of goals in the Championship last season and I'm confident he can do the same in the PL. The problem is that our more defensive approach and framework negates the effectiveness of our attacking players. If we had another manager, the likes of Lennon and Vydra would probably flourish. Unfortunately, we'd probably ship more goals. Mind you, we're conceding too many goals as it is anyway.

He's not that good, especially when you see players with the ability of Phil Foden at Man City.

File under Wells - bet the lad wished he had gone to Leeds

And thats why he will be given no money in January - 11 million and dont forget Gibson who i know is coming back from injury but would he play him before Mee and Tarks ?

Yeah, in the league he started and scored v Bournemouth (4-0) and (didn't score) Cardiff (2-1). Okay only two games but a 100% win ratio in the league.

I'm baffled as to what he has done wrong, also, as you say, scored in Europe.

He was truly terrible at West Ham. That's all I know. Playing Wood and Vokes together up top just doesn't do it t this level though that's for sure.

I don’t imagine Brooks or Maddison would be given much of a chance by Dyche. Aren’t they a bit young ? Would they suit the meat and two veg system ? Not sure.

Given you turned your vitriol towards Dyche on 30th October 2012, at least you can't be accused of jumping on a bandwagon.

I've just posted on the report thread that I believe Vydra wasn't available on Saturday.
