Positivity - We're still statistically on target
Seems weird to say, but we are.
In 2016/17 we only won 11 league games.
2017/18? 14 league games. That's all.
We've won 2 so far this season, 9 to go to equal 16/17. Statistically probable. A draw or two and we'll be safe.

Re: Positivity - We're still statistically on target
9 out of 24 is harder than 11 out of 38 though.
Given we still need to play Arsenal (2), Spurs (2), Liverpool (2) plus City, Utd and Chelsea once each that leaves us with 15 'winnable' games. Getting 9 wins out that is doable, but I wouldn't put my mortgage on it.
We might shock one of the big teams to the tune of a point, or maybe even three, but the free hits are running out with every chance we blow.
In 16/17 we'd won 4 by this point, meaning we got 7 wins in the last 24 games, and had played an extra top six side (won 1, drawn 1, lost 2 as opposed to the current 0-11 aggregate we're on with only 3 games played)

Wheres is the evidence to suggest we can stay up?
Accept relegation. It’s not the end of the world when we go down.

Weve won 2 of our last 19....7 of our last 35. And you are confident we will win at least 9 of our remaining 24 ??

It's right there in my post.claptrappers_union wrote:Wheres is the evidence to suggest we can stay up?

It's statistically possible. Whether it'll happen or not only time will tell.
Re: Positivity - We're still statistically on target
Problem with being relegated is that this team isso poor as of now that they might go straight down again. Sean Dyche says he knew this season was going to be tough. Then why the hell did we not strenghten a midfield?

It’s always statistically possible until it mathematically impossible. Bearing in mind performances, goals conceded, chances created, goals scored. This could be one of the worst teams to pla in the Premier League.ClaretAndJew wrote:It's right there in my post.

Re: Positivity - We're still statistically on target
Any team who leaks goals and creates nothing are going down. The manager talks with desperation and he needs putting out of his misery.
Whoever takes over from Dyche as one hell of a job on his hands to turn this round, he will inherit a squad who have little quality and pace.

Serious question, how on earth did Dyche manage to get the same team to seventh last season?Top Claret wrote:Any team who leaks goals and creates nothing are going down. The manager talks with desperation and he needs putting out of his misery.

At least we are not as bad as Southampton. According to their forum it's something like 5 wins in 45 matches.Dyched wrote:7 from 24

And I'll bet no-one on here thinks they are guaranteed to go down.

Is that really the best you can come up with? At least we’re not as bad as Southampton?Spijed wrote:At least we are not as bad as Southampton. According to their forum it's something like 5 wins in 45 matches.

I’d say, based on what I’ve seen of performances, we’re every bit as bad as Southampton and then some. We are the worst team in the league on par with Sunderland under Moyes. And yes, everyone thought they were down.

Ksr, how did Dyche get this “worst team in the league” to seventh last season?ksrclaret wrote:Is that really the best you can come up with? At least we’re not as bad as Southampton?

Re: Positivity - We're still statistically on target
By getting the players to give absolutely everything and play way above the sum of their parts, I think. There was also a purple patch in October/ November time in which we actually played some nice football. Also, I think the recruitment helped in that we brought in players who pushed us on and competition for places was there. Of course there was some luck involved too, and 'small margins'.Winstonswhite wrote:Ksr, how did Dyche get this “worst team in the league” to seventh last season?
I'm afraid none of the above has been carried forward into this season and we're paying the price for it. When this team suddenly transform to playing below the sum of their parts, we have very alarmingly become the worst side in the league. Whatever messages were given last season are either not there this season or are being ignored, and the resultant football on offer is total and utter garbage.

Re: Positivity - We're still statistically on target
So Dyche got the players performing at and above there normal levels? Why can’t he/they do that again?
I also think you’re clouding your judgement on the “resultant football” being awful. Dycheball has never been a good spectacle. It’s always been built on a solid defence and scrape one nils. Sort that out and we’ll be right.

Re: Positivity - We're still statistically on target
Statistically we’re one point inside the relegation area. If we better the results of Fulham, Southampton and Huddersfield by the end of the season we will stay up. There’s no point extrapolating the wins needed from games remaining and then bizarrely discounting the Everton fixtures amongst others. Staying up is perfectly achievable with this squad of players, performances need to drastically improve though.

You tell me? It was a bloody miracle and miracles don't come round twice
Dyche has run out of steam and ideas, along with his footballers. The team needed freshening up with quality in the last couple of transfer windows and it just didn't happen.
Dyche is to ridged and does not have the ability to change things
