Just seen some goals from the fa cup
There was one which included an empty stand with just a couple of fans behind the goal... Oh how I long for those days....

On current form they have a very good chance. Should be a good competitive tie for the neutral.

Third time we have been drawn against them in the FA Cup - the last time was at Oakwell in 2013 when we lost 1-0 with a goal similar to Liverpool's winner yesterday

That game at Oakwell was an absolute shocker! Can remember the Beast's last minute howler but didn't Dane Richards come off the bench as well? One of the worst cameos I've ever seen

he did come off the bench - I've named the team in the article, came on for Wallace and Stock was sent off in the first half.

Going quite well in the league are Barnsley this year should bring a decent following. We may as well offer them the full cricket field stand.

I believe we won that first match against Barnsley back in 1910/11, 2-0. A feature of that game was a certain Tommy Boyle playing for Barnsley, he had such a good game (albeit in defeat) that our Chairman at the time Harry Windle made an offer to bring him to Burnley.

The bid was rejected but we only had to wait until September that year before Boyle finally arrived at Turf Moor, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Why has CT said we will look for our first win v Barnsley in FA Cup when we won 2-0 in 1911?

My first Burnley FA cup tie, a 12 hour round day trip from Aberdeen to witness that shocker! I remember Dane doing a 50 yard diagonal run with the ball and getting nowhere a bit like his Burnley career! What a grim day

Lost to Barnsley in 2013 in the FA Cup.

Our other cup games have yielded losses to Lincoln, Accrington and Burton.

I fear this will go the same way.

We should do our very utmost to progress as far as possible in the cup. It could provide a much needed confidence boost, and give us supporters some welcome relief.

And why not? When 1st January comes round, we will have 18 league games left and 5 months in which to play them. That's 3 or 4 matches per month. I think the players will be fit enough to manage the odd cup tie without damaging the chances of stopping up.

Or is it that if we're going to have a miserable season, you want it to be proper miserable and not to dilute it by winning the cup like Wigan did?

Great draw for Stanley home to Ipswich, definitely winnable for them.

Other stand-out ties include dependent on replays

Tranmere/Southport vs Tottenham.

Solihull Moors/Blackpool vs Arsenal

Wrexham/Newport vs Leicester

Woking vs Watford

We need to take the Barnsley tie seriously, try and get a feel good factor around the club.

You have to ignore the wins though, focus on defeats and mention we throw cup games. Also any upset we have ever caused surely is now merely down to the better team throwing that game.

I suppose this means we should throw the cup as we can't win it unless every team better than us throws there game. Think I am getting the hang of whopper speak now on here.

Because we're a Premier League club and shouldn't need to resort to petty, small minded behaviour like that to beat a League 1 side at home? Good thing Chelsea didn't have the same attitude as you for the cup game back in 2008 wasn't it?

Chelsea gave us the allocation we were entitled to in a cup game the same as they give everyone else
