Selhurst Park
Selhurst Park
If people moan about the facilities at Turf Moor they should perhaps pay a visit to Selhurst Park.
The view from the away section must be one of the worst in football as you can't see the entire pitch regardless of where you sit/stand.
The Cricket Field stand is light years ahead in terms of build quality, facilities and space and even our disabled areas don't seem as bad.
It really is a dump.

I had a perfect view from my seat , service from the bars was spot on , well staffed and polite even had Burnley tops on , the only thing to moan about was the performance from the team and manager, which you won’t do .

I take it you didn’t see the picture widely circulated on Twitter this week of our catering ‘facilities’ for the Newcastle fans?Spijed wrote:If people moan about the facilities at Turf Moor they should perhaps pay a visit to Selhurst Park.

I was in row 19 and couldn't see any of the bottom left hand corner of the pitch. I was in the second row two seasons ago and still couldn't see any of the bottom left hand corner.joey13 wrote:I had a perfect view from my seat , service from the bars was spot on , well staffed and polite even had Burnley tops on , the only thing to moan about was the performance from the team and manager, which you won’t do .
And if you sit too far back the view is totally restricted.
Btw, why does every thread have to be about team performances? Can't we have a discussion without mentioning SD?

The only thing you find to moan about is your view of the game ,while watching a pitiful pathetic performance devoid of effort or creativity your view must have been poorSpijed wrote:I was in row 19 and couldn't see any of the bottom left hand corner of the pitch. I thought the facility’s were far better than the cricket field stand

Loftus Road is probably the worst away end I have visited in the top two divisions.

Not that it matters but is that photo from the tent outside in the carpark or the away?

It seems someone is not being fully truthful there as that’s just the tent, much like our own fanzine tent.Vegas Claret wrote:pretty pathetic
Re: Selhurst Park
Pretty shameful really.
The majority of games I go to are away from home, and should I be confronted with that, I’d be gobsmacked.
Im not sure how any professional club, let alone a PL one, can think that is remotely acceptable.

I think it’s the idea that the Club is a shambles. That’s what I’m guessing.Leisure wrote:Don't know but what is the photo supposed to convey to us?
I think it’s disingenuous and unfair, btw.

For FFS it's just a photo of a section of the catering! It's not the a la carte offering.TsarBomba wrote:Pretty shameful really.

Re: Selhurst Park
Normally have a rubbish view at Selhurst Park but was on row 41 yesterday and the view was decent except if the ball went high up. If the roof was flat or went upwards rather than down it would have been perfect.
As for the facilities outside, the staff were good and quick when serving. It is much better than it used to be when you could only be under the stand.

Re: Selhurst Park
Row 41 for me too at Palace. It was great - I was able to watch the whole game from a seated position.
As I had paid for a SEAT this was great (except that I cannot remember too much about the attacking display from BFC !!)

Re: Selhurst Park
Guess they are suggesting we are tin-pot. Like we should care, the facilities inside were given a face lift a couple of seasons ago (remember people moaning about the words to Bertie Mee being incorrect on the wall), that’s why I presumed it was the tent outside.Leisure wrote:Don't know but what is the photo supposed to convey to us?
It’s no different to temporary facilities home fans have, although I hope that is not food on the floor below the heaters*, it’s another stick for people to try and beat us/the club with.
*edit I think they’ll be leafs from the trees boarding the cricket pitch

Was on 46 but folk were standing. Stepped down 2 rows and everyone was sitting. View a bit limited by roof overhang but not as bad the standing up position.

My main gripe about SP has always been that it's in the middle of nowhere.
It's a bloody nightmare (relatively) to get to. Pain in the arse.

The London equivalent of Turf Moor then Electro
Pain by any form of transport to get to SP!

Re: Selhurst Park
You want to try getting to it on a coach and getting away from the ground is an absolute nightmare. After the game it took us over an hour just to get 5 miles down the road to Purley. Easily the worst ground in the country to get to. Would hate to think what it must be like traveling there for an night game!ElectroClaret wrote:My main gripe about SP has always been that it's in the middle of nowhere.

It’s a five minute walk to a train station, surely fans can put in a bit of effort, or have they got the same attitude as the teamLoyalclaret wrote:Arrived by train, coach, car and back of a van...none of them easy

Re: Selhurst Park
Says a lot about the priorities of modern football fans when Geordies of all people are whinging about the “ closed after serving “ back of a beer and pie tent ffs! Not many years ago any self respecting Geordie would have simply washed their molten pie down with a pint of p1ss ( and not necessarily their own !)
