They seem fairly reasonable comments regarding Rigg. It will take him a little time to fully understand the type of player SD is after and the finances available for them.

He basically repeated himself 3 times throughout that interview.
In a nutshell basically things are going to remain as they have been so far under SD with regards to recruitment. Poor

Lower championship type surely
Re: January Window won't be a walk in the park - Dyche
Should be at least a couple from contacts - but would be a case of trying to get them to the club while in bottom 3 - thats why this window will just pass us by and hope we can muster enough points to stop up - or then a case of replacing the 2 or 3 likely to go if we go down.

Should not take him that long - everyone in football already knows.karatekid wrote:They seem fairly reasonable comments regarding Rigg. It will take him a little time to fully understand the type of player SD is after and the finances available for them.

Shouldn't take too long. Have to be British, experienced, hard working, preferably played in the Championship and a jolly good sort for the dressing room.karatekid wrote:They seem fairly reasonable comments regarding Rigg. Thats the problem football is my favourite hobby and Burnley my team - so you wonder why i am dissapointed how this campaign is going but could see this back in July / August as i knew we were standing still or worse going to head backwards - and how correct i was and other people on here.Lancasterclaret wrote:Get a new hobby Boysie, one you can actually enjoy eh?

No, I get that and I'm chuffed that it still your favourite hobby.
I dialled down my support a lot because it bothered me a lot more than it should do, so I'm far more chilled about it now.
Though this season my attempts to keep calm at games have definitely failed!

It's all hashed from the Rigg bit two weeks ago is that article.

The fact that we are in the bottom three, with a good chance of getting relegated, could also put the brakes on any January spending. The Board may not want to risk spending huge sums on championship players, if they are not going to have the same massive income next season.

The headline doesn't match the article and it's all out of context. It's about the appointment of Rigg.

Add to that hardly any player is going to want to come here in case we go down.Vino blanco wrote:The fact that we are in the bottom three, with a good chance of getting relegated, could also put the brakes on any January spending. Let's just hope they quickly develop a working relationship. You often read about Managers whingeing about players signed without their knowledge.

I would have hoped Mr Rigg would be putting forward names that SD does not normally look for, ie people with a bit of pace, skill, aggression and height that can make our midfield more combative, creative and influentialkaratekid wrote:They seem fairly reasonable comments regarding Rigg. He might even be able to persuade our manager to give the new lad Vydra a chance
Re: January Window won't be a walk in the park - Dyche
I've noticed Dyche speaks as though his job isn't remotely under threat. I actually think this is part of the problem. There isn't enough pressure for him to change his approach. He has a long term contract whether we sign anyone or not. This is why we are probably looking at long term players who can bed in before the Championship season.

If they don't want to invest in permanent contracts with players, just in case
we do get relegated, then surely the way forward is real quality loans of keen
and hungry, skilful, speedy, strong relative youngsters.
If they try to go down that route, I just hope not too many clubs are aware of
our record for using onloan players, which has not been very good. IMO that is.

Re: January Window won't be a walk in the park - Dyche
Incredible how fickle some people are. How quick they are to start throwing snide comments everywhere. Everyone can appreciate that we are struggling and I’m sure Dyche will know that everybody, including himself needs to up their game. But is there really any need to turn so bitter just a dozen or so games after the best season in most of our lives? How about getting behind the side in the hope that it helps turn things around, because the negativity certainly won’t.
