We've offered nothing
like tonight all season. If we go down fighting like that then so be it. Beaten by the Champions league runners up but I loved that the fighting spirit was back.
I'm a huge Lowton fan but Bardsley set the tone early doors
Forget the nonsense about Hart being the issue
Forget the nonsense about them not playing for Dyche
Miles better tonight, play like this at the weekend and we will have 3 points
Well done lads

Re: We've offered nothing
It’s all well and good doing it against the top sides but we need to do it against the sides around us. That’s what will relegate us. We must take this into Saturday now.

A definite improvement, which is what we all wanted to see. Bardsley was fantastic, and hopefully a few of the wasters of weeks gone by have taken note.
We MUST take confidence from this into Brighton.
We’re still switching off defensively which is a concern, but tonight is something to build on.
Onwards and upwards.

Still 2 poor goals to give away which needs sorting
Re: We've offered nothing
The mistakes should be reviewed but on the whole, that performance was a massive improvement.BOYSIE31 wrote:Still 2 poor goals to give away which needs sorting
I can take losing when the performance is decent. Play like that for the season and we will have a good chance.

Re: We've offered nothing
Was better with more running but that should be a given anyway
Re: We've offered nothing
It was t just more running though, was it? Far more cohesive, working as a team, pressing etc.
To say it was just more running is a bit daft

Ok you know what I mean - a bit more like a team that gives a ****

Same again Saturday please.
Re: We've offered nothing
That was more like it. In the first half we looked like a Burnley side of last season. In isolation some positives tonight but in the grand scheme of things there are no free hits if we don't get results from teams around us.
Re: We've offered nothing
Barnsley set the tone with those two crunchers early on. Get Vydra playing with Barnes and Pope back and well be ok. Hart makes teriffic saves but is rooted to his line. Pope is better at coming getting the ball.and may well have stopped their second.

Re: We've offered nothing
2nd goal was poor defending from our centre halves especially Mee who switched off and didn’t track his man not sure what Hart could have done about it.
Re: We've offered nothing
It’s ok doing better against Liverpool.
Brightons massive. We must show it again on Saturday. We’ve simply got to win our games against the lower teams now.

Re: We've offered nothing
Far better than recent offerings but in reality no more than the "maximum effort, minimum requirement" we produced week-after-week last season.
Bardsley showed everything that's been missing from Lowton's game - that was the biggest individual plus. Collectively we looked like a cohesive unit and defended well from front to back.
Have to agree the goals conceded were disappointing, especially the 2nd which was the game-changer. Mee (I think?) just didn't react to the ball across the face of the goal. It's not just Liverpool who'll punish lapses of concentration like that, it's every other team in the PL. That's the worry. As generally encouraging as tonight was, assuming we can maintain those levels, these are the kind of individual errors we weren't seeing last season. Liverpool might have gone on to win anyway but they've cost us dearly in other games recently (like Newcastle).
If we can eradicate those then given the performance level otherwise we give ourselves a fighting chance on Saturday.

FFS will everybody get off Mees case. He was Tarks man, Van Dijk that is, and left him for dead.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:2nd goal was poor defending from our centre halves especially Mee who switched off and didn’t track his man not sure what Hart could have done about it.

Re: We've offered nothing
And no spelling mistakes.....well done fella
Re: We've offered nothing
Agree with Piston. That goal can from VVD running off Tarks and past at least 2 others. They thought it was going dead and that they had it under control, instead of actually taking control of the situation (rare occasion tonight we didn’t and got punished).
