Was Wood being boll**ed off his teammates ?

Post by AlargeClaret » Sat Dec 08, 2018 7:13 pm

Ben Mee was fairly vocal and I swear I saw Wood bollocked off ( I think ) Cork and another player . Mee had a go very unfairly at Taylor when tbf Taylor was ready for the ball .
Wood looks bloody awful to me and seems to need the ball literally perfect for him . Perhaps his confidence is shot but just didn’t look that happy . Great spirit by the team today though

Not sure but why on 75 mins did Dyche not sub him for Vokes. Wood is like a cart horse at the moment.

Overseas game commentators (not sure if they're Sky or not) specifically commented on the bollocking from Tarks

I saw JBG having a go at him when he flicked it inside and Wood didn't anticipate anything, just kind of stood there completely wrong-footed.

Shouting at your own players in football isn't as bad as it looks to fans.
They shout loud to be heard and quickly get their attention.

If it was for the truly pathetic, frankly primary school standard bit of play when he toe-bunged it out for corner to them in stoppage time under no pressure, then he deserved it.

Laughable how bad he is. We seem to make a habit of collecting non-footballing forwards. Or at least they become so after spending time with us.

Met b0llocked him for aimlessly kicking it out for a corner towards the end, when he had so much time to clear his lines.

He looked totally spent and just panicked.
The pressure was getting to everyone towards the end.

If we had the option to sell a player on the first day the next transfer window opens it should be him.

I think the team are slowly turning on him from inside - Barnes headed out for a corner which would have gone for a goal kick and got applauded. Wood put it out for a corner with 2 of our players next to him who didn’t tell him he had time on the ball.

Brady was through and Wood had the beating of his man and Brady chose to play the ball to Barnes instead who was in a worse position - maybe his lack of confidence (just for you Tim) is affecting the whole squad now whenever something goes awry.

Going through a poor spell but last season shows that he can be clinical and considering how short of goal threat we are he is still worth holding on to. Hopefully something will click soon because he's not earning his place in the side at present.

100% needs dropping, harsh or not he isn't good enough at the moment. Doesn't win a header, doesn't hold the ball up. Lad needs a rest to take him out of the firing line

What happens if it doesn't click? Charity might begin at home but we need to be scoring goals at some point.

I've seen nothing to suggest he should be starting. This season he has looked dreadful. To the extent that at times it's like playing with ten men.

One more game at spurs where he bagged one last year.... It really isn't helping him or anyone else by playing him.

Poor for a few games, couldn't understand how he stayed on today at the expense of Barnes, but he is a forward
when he scores a goal he will get a boost same as any player, Let's try backing our players instead of screaming
abuse . you never know it may have a positive effect ? Just a thought ?

I've not heard anyone screaming abuse, and I would say a legitimate topic for conversation.

Peer pressure in the workplace can be very effective.
It can also be very counter productive.
It can be seen as bullying.
Sometimes it works.

Given his poor return this season and his poor performances in general the fans have been remarkably supporting.

There is quite a fair bit of abuse hurled at our players, I'm not saying i don't call them, it's part and parcel of today's game
I sit in the top tier though they probably don't hear me :-) ... It can't be good though some spotty oik screaming your **** at you as you are playing a game .. When the crowd are behind the team we are by far a better club and outfit ..

He has had an awful season and would not make the first eleven of any team in the top 2 divs

He is much better than that. Has his bad injury done for him?

Not scoring goals can be accepted when a forward offers other things. And vice versa. Not scoring goals and being completely anonymous and ineffective like Wood has been his problem.

Interesting that we've tried different striking partnerships this season and looked poor, but in the last two matches we've played Barnes and Wood together and looked very good as a team.

I'd keep him in the team as the performances are much improved of late.

We can't keep chopping and changing the side as it's done us no good.

Don't agree with that. For me does win his fair share of headers (not as many as Vokes) and he is not bad at holding up the ball, but his positioning and lack of confidence to get a shot off is what is worrying for me. He clearly has ability and an eye for goal, but I think Dyche's loyalty to him has to be finite.

I actually think Mee was ranting at Dyche in the second half when Brady struggled to keep up with one of their players who went on to create an opening and Brady was left for dead. Mee was absolutely incensed that Brady wasn't being replaced as he was clearly injured.

Brady def' got a knock.

Vokes/ Vydra or Hendrick for Wood and Lennon for Brady I thought would happen before this knock - Brady was knackered.

I don't mind on field players being "pumped" and vocal - Bards Mee Tarks all were...

I wish Hart would make a catch though..... he does not - It puts us under pressure and we retreat deeper.
We tried to hold a higher line today but Hart does not come for anything really does he?

How many times does Wood have to be offside? He must be thick? It happens so much.

That's my 2p.

If a player makes a mistake that could be avoided other players should be telling them to get there head together. Woods stick today was the right thing but as mentioned before Dyche should have subbed him. Mabe give him the next game to try to turn it around but he needs to find something quick we can't afford to be carrying players like today.

Dawson at West Brom ( last season or this) gets more headers in the box when they are attacking than all of our team combined.

These powder puff deliveries have produced very little and Chris Wood hasn't connected with many at all of late.

His movement is still better than Vokes but unfortunately nothing comes of it.

I, like the rest of to the supporters was surprised to see the subs board show 10 and not 11, but when Barnes was walking off it looked like he was limping slightly.

Doesn’t explain why Woods wasn’t replaced also, but could be reason why Barnes was?

My in-depth technical summary of Wood is that he is “gash”.
