Only used the Oculus Rift.
What kind of gamer is your nephew? PC, console?
Know what kind of games they play?

He wants it for movies I believe, not sure what games he plays but he mentioned a zombie one which is supposed to be fantastic on the Oculus

Then yes it's a nice virtual cinema and will have lots of other stuff to do with too.
It's a self contained device so has games & apps made for it as opposed to the other VR's thusfar where you play the games from your PC or console.

It looks like a great experience for the price.

I'm not sure if he has a PS4 or not, but if he does, the PSVR is a better device and they've been selling them for less than £200 recently.

None of these headsets are really any good for films though, the resolution is way to small. It isn't even comparable to SD when your eyes re so close to the screen and you are sat in a virtual theatre.

The OR Go has had a resolution bump to 1600 x 1440 per eye so it's better than previous headsets.

As you can read here it has mix opinions on film viewing. Maybe better than your nephew can get in his bedroom unless he had an expensive TV.

My wife bought me one for my birthday in November this year I'm 61 could have done with a walking aid.

The Oculus go is a fantastic bit of kit my grand kids love it, the picture quality is superb.

Its that good my son after using mine went and bought his own.

Yes, that will be better but I'm not sure it will be that much better (it is actually 1280x1440 per eye on the Go). There is still visible screen door effect (visible pixels) because your eyes are so close. Even though it is 1280x1440 per eye, consider your eyes are only a cm away from it. In comparison my iPhone has a resolution of 1125 x 2436 and I view it from more than 12 inches away.
