If Almiron is the name you've heard, he's off to Newcastle.

You and me have the same 'source' Chris so I'm sure it's the same name. I am 100% behind it.ChristheViking wrote:Would be some signing if it’s the name I’ve heard. We’ll wait and see.

Loftus-Cheek is 22 - just saying - Sarri doesn't think he is tactically ready for Chelsea - but might like Dyche's organisation and be willing to loan himChip Harrison wrote:That's all we need to stay up. Untried, untested 22 year olds.

He's a solid player, not world beater, but 6ft 1' and an improvement on Westwood and Hendrick.
Played for Roma, Chievo and Borussia Monchengladbach in Europe.
I watch quite a few Toronto FC games on telly and Michael Bradley usually impresses me. He’s not a flashy player, but rarely makes a mistake, good passer, always in the thick of things, usually open to receive a pass. All in all he’s what I’d call a solid player. As for Sebastian Giovinco…that kids got talent, pacy, good on the ball, brilliant at free kicks, seems to handle the ‘hack and slash’ mentality of some MLS defenders quite well.
I’ve always struggled to figure out what level MLS is at, my best guess would be low end Championship. Pretty entertaining to watch though.

Balotelli would be a terrific signing, if only for the " Why always Mee ? " T Shirt

Its hard to guage because of the quota's and make up of each squad. Salary Caps, designated players, youth/development contracts. The standard of quality within each team itself can be quite varying, but all teams are in the same boat and it's quite competitive so I quite like it.

He's also the highest paid player in MLS on about £110k a week.exilecanada wrote: As for Sebastian Giovinco…that kids got talent, pacy, good on the ball, brilliant at free kicks, seems to handle the ‘hack and slash’ mentality of some MLS defenders quite well.

With modern fitness methods why do some think 31 years of age is too old?
Lewis Hamilton is 33 having just won his latest F1 drivers championship
Roger Federer was 36 when he last won Wimbledon
Chris Hoy was 36 when he won gold in London 2012
Steve Redgrave was 38 when he won his last gold medal.

I must have missed it when any of those last made a meaningful contribution to a premier league football team.Spijed wrote:With modern fitness methods why do some think 31 years of age is too old?

Just wanted to clarify after poster referred to Giovinco as a "kid". I don't think 31 is too old at all. If you're good enough it doesn't matter what age you are.Spijed wrote:With modern fitness methods why do some think 31 years of age is too old?

Not just him, but there was reference to the age of Bradley as well.Sleeping Cat wrote:Just wanted to clarify after poster referred to Giovinco as a "kid". I don't think 31 is too old at all. If you're good enough it doesn't matter what age you are.
Re: Mike Rigg taking questions on BBC Lancs at 6pm
31 isn't too old but the chance of resale value is minimal. We might be earning plenty of money nowadays but there's a limited number of £10m+ players that we can buy with no resale value (and most likely much higher wages).
They shouldn't be written off unconditionally but they should be viewed with more scepticism.

No but Mark Schwarzer won back to back Premier League's with two different clubs at 42 / 43, respectively, the oldest player to win the league.mealdeal wrote:I must have missed it when any of those last made a meaningful contribution to a premier league football team.
