1-0 at half time. They’ve had more of the play but haven’t created anything. We’ve had another couple of half chances.
Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
This is the 3rd Round of the FA Youth Cup I think?
It is bringing back memories for me of December 1968 when I was playing for non league Dunstable Town Youth in the same round
We lost 4-0 to Gillingham who lost 5-0 away to Arsenal in the next round with a certain Charlie George scoring all 5

Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
We really are not playing well at all but that was probably their first real chance
Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
Anyone know if it's extra time or a reply if it ends in a draw?

1-1 at final whistle and extra time. We came closest to winning it with a shot against the underside of the bar. Not played well at all.

Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
Was game over the minute the twitter account said we were “20 minutes away from round four”. Inevitable outcome.

What a shame but with only 9 Players it’s still a damn good effort.

Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
We haven't played at all well tonight, that's the most disappointing performance I've seen all season, but having said that Oxford had very few chances.
Battled brilliantly with 10 and then 9 men, just a shame we couldn't get through on the pens. Thought we were outstanding in extra time.
Finally, a word for the referee, and this is nothing to do with the red cards. Go and find something else to do in your spare time.

First red card was very silly. Trying to hold onto the ball once they had scored and when one tried to knock it out of his arms,it looked like he shoved him in the face.
Agree that the ref was shocking.

Oxford did deserve it.We were poor but put in an enormous amount of effort to get it as far as penalties with 9 men

Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
One of the stupid things that ticks me off in football. Fighting for the ball in the net after a goal. You kick off when you are ready. If they carry the ball all the way back and place it on the centre spot YOU KICK OFF WHEN YOU ARE READY.burnleymik wrote:Unfortunately Oxford deserved it on balance.

Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
I thought Oxford were the better side but they hardly had any chances. I think our goalkeeper only made possibly one save.
Couldn't see the first red card but Thomas was surrounded by four or five Oxford players, but if he's raised his hand then correct decision. Pruti was handling the ball on the line so has to go.
But has anyone seen a referee as bad as that in a long time? At least he was fair, he was dreadful for both sides.

He seemed to have invented his own version of playing advantage Tony particularly when that advantage was for Oxford. It was like watching rugby with play going on for several seconds before he pulled it back for an offence everyone had forgotten about...

Re: Burnley v Oxford - Youth Cup Latest
I gave up trying to work out what on earth he was doing but he certainly wanted to be the star of the show for much of the time. Some of the advantages he gave them were absolutely ridiculous.randomclaret2 wrote:He seemed to have invented his own version of playing advantage Tony particularly when that advantage was for Oxford.
