Your team v Spurs

Post by Mala591 » Thu Dec 13, 2018 11:08 am

I suppose the only issue is who to play upfront alongside Barnes

Wood or Vokes or Vydra ?

I'm staying with Wood to start but change on 60 minutes if it obviously isn't working

As above. Same side that played well against Liverpool and beat Brighton.

If JBG is injured then i’d bring Jeff in (rather than Lennon)
I’d also play Vokes before Wood.
Rest the same.

Hendrick for one of Brady or JBG for me, to play narrow on one flank and help bolster the central midfield - especially against a Spurs team who tend to be pretty narrow apart from the full backs.

You can make an argument for making a change up front too, perhaps with Vydra replacing Wood, not least given the volume of upcoming games, but I suspect Wood will be given a bit more time yet before we make a change. However, the space against Spurs will be behind their full backs, and we've already seen in his cameos that Vydra is effective at running into that space (especially behind the left back), so Wood will need to do a lot more of this than he's done in the last couple of games.

Hart
Bardsley Tarks Mee Taylor
Westwood Cork Hendrick Brady
Barnes
Wood

This assumes that Iceland is injured. If he is fit, he plays in the place of Hendrick. Definitely no place for Lennon for me.

Westwood wide instead of Hendrick?

One wide player, Brady, three central midfielders.

More than likely to be the same team as against Brighton
apart from JBG if he's injured.
And if so then either Lennon or Hendrick but I also feel Hendrick
might be the better option for this game.

Suspect Dyche will go for Lennon.

SD has said he is going to shuffle his pack for Spurs, unless he is double bluffing.

If jbg isn't fit, Lennon to play.

A 3-man midfield or we will get murdered.

Hart

Bardsley Tarkowski Mee Taylor

Hendrick Cork (by default) Westwood

Lennon (by default) Brady

Barnes

The two man midfield did well against Liverpool who are a better team.

For the first time in ages and with a tireless Gudmundsson `outlet` which we sadly don`t appear to have today.

I agree with claretspice that Hendrick should play right midfield. Lennon works hard but is imo generally 'ineffective/lightweight' especially away from home.

Hart
Bardsley Tarks Mee Taylor
Hendrick Cork Westwood Brady
Barnes Wood

Let's hope spurs are tired after their midweek European game.

Team that will almost certainly play:
Hart, Bardsley, Mee, Tarks, Taylor, Brady, Westwood, Cork, Barnes, Wood, Lennon (very slim chance it might be Hendrick tho)

Team I would love to play:

..................Heaton
Bardsley.....Tarks ..Long .....Taylor
...........Hendrick Westwood
.....Barnes .....Vydra...... Brady
...................Vokes

Team I would probably play:

...........................Heaton
Bardsley............Tarks .....Mee ...........Taylor
..............Hendrick .........Westwood
.....Lennon ................................Brady
..................................Barnes
......................Vokes

I’m struggling to see the argument to even put Wood in the squad at the moment

The goalkeeping experts are now saying Dyche got it wrong in Athens putting Tom into the cauldron, so based on that and he let 6 in for the under 23s in midweek it might be best keeping him on the bench?

Barnes up front. Vokes and Wood on bench. Looks a very defensive set up.
