Love Actually
My paper has just said this film is loved and loathed in equal measure - how about a quick test?
I'll start: LOVED
I'll start: LOVED

I don't loath it but I don't love it either. Just a nice easy to watch film that stops the wife from bugging me for a couple of hours

Being a chickflick and aimed at 50% of the demographic don't you think its obvious it will be "Loved" "Loathed" equally

I like it for the reasons I hate it. Its not my kind of film though, but I don't find it offensive.

Re: Love Actually
Things not to say when watching " Love Actually " , with your loved one ....
" Of course Alan Rickman's going to throw one up that Secretary, fit as f**k and on a plate ? Who wouldn't ? It's either that or go home, and listen to mad Emma Thompson, droning on about Climate warming, and moping around listening to f*****g Joni Mitchell ! "
nb: No Claret was hurt during this post, probably because Mrs Clarets4me hasn't read it !

So much for one word answers!!
IT: not sure what you are saying?
Bosscat: Are you saying that all men will hate it and all women will love it? Sexist.
Robbie: Saw a documentary on it once and they actually cut out 2 or 3 extra story lines they had filmed.
Clarets4me: Knowing Mrs C4me, it's a good job you don't come out with that!

Re: Love Actually
Absolutely love it
Has anyone ever counted how many 'types' of love feature in this film? e.g. mother for child, sister for brother, man for man, husband and wife, unrequited love, teenage love and so on.

Re: Love Actually
I love parts of it and hate other bits.
For me, the best relationship is the foreign girl and Colin Firth. (I had to Google his name so I am still normal).
Emma Thompson finding out her husband has been cheating is genuinely touching. Seem to remember she was breaking up with Kenneth Branagh in real life and suspect those tears were very real.
But other bits are infuriating. Natalie who lives with her nice working class family, walks down the stairs using the f word several times. Clearly the posh writer thinks all working class people behave like that. That makes my blood boil!

I often go up to get something, see something that needs doing, do it and go back down without the thing I went up for. I don’t mind the first time but occasionally it takes 3 or 4 trips.Bosscat wrote:I often walk down stairs using the f word... especially when I forgot what I had gone upstairs for in the 1st place

Love it. Can't believe it's 15 years old. Features a lot of actors I like, particularly Alan Rickman (I miss him). It's a fun film that's not supposed to be taken too seriously.
Agree with LoveCurryPies as well - that scene where Emma Thompson's character finds out her husband is cheating is tremendous acting.

It’s hardly The Bad Lieutenant but it’s harmless enough in your Richard Curtis cannon ( blacksddee aside)of pseudo middle class posh people having a soppy vaguely amusing nonsensical time .
I’m amazed anyone can tell the difference with any of his stuff though I must admit I chortled at a fight scene with Hugh grant and another guy in one of his films .
