Now THAT I would pay good money to see. The sight of Toure running around the Turf on his hands with the ball between his legs with opponents try to head it off him. Could work.Bosscat wrote:Ya Ya but what about his front legs?

Re: Yaya Toure on his way?
Don't recall there being much derision re: Joey Barton from our fans. Plenty from the opposition which was exactly what he expected and thrived on. There was an air of frustration amongst our ranks whilst we had to wait for him to get 'Dyche fit' but once he came on as a sub in the home defeat to Reading an exciting era, albeit a relatively short one, was on the horizon. Just how important he was to that team cannot be over-estimated.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Joey Barton worked out ok and he was greeted with real derision.

Fair enough C&J. I am more concerned about his more recent appearances. Certainly doesn't seem to get any 'run' of games under his belt before another injury appears.ClaretAndJew wrote:69 games out of 2 and a half seasons

Not doubting the fact you have been told this, but surely this is absolute and utter ********?cricketfieldclarets wrote:Got it on good authority that he is on his way here. From an excellent source. He was right on the money for Gray, Barton and Hart signings.
Rigg (and Joe Hart) know him very well and it was Rigg who took him to city.
Cant say he is the right fit now to be honest especially as he hasnt done it at Olympiakos. Right profile just too old.
I guess its low risk on a free.
Was hoping we would be looking at Loftus Cheek and Drinkwater personally.
I can't really see a player who was very recently on a quarter of a million a week turning up for us just because he knows Joe Hart.

Only good for the Tommy Cassidy role let the ball do his talking and the rest do the running.

Re: Yaya Toure on his way?
At the beginning of the season I'm sure there were reports that he would pay a sizeable chunk of his salary back if he didn't achieve certain goals. We're desperate for a midfielder and in his mould, I can't see us buying anyone better than him.
Worth a shot for me providing his signing is well balanced with younger players in the upcoming window. I think he will go to West Ham though.

Even if he's only mildly injured and potentially fit enough for the bench if not start, I'd much prefer him to miss Spurs and Arsenal away than Everton and West Ham at home. Ditto Defour.

Joey was immense for us. Opposition players and fans hated him which says a lot. Outfield captain without doubtSilkyskills1 wrote:Don't recall there being much derision re: Joey Barton from our fans. But there were adverse comments from Burnley fans to signing him. Probably more seen in the comments of the Blacburn evening telegraph. Joey proved them all wrong. Wish we had a 26 years old Joey in our ranks now.

Re: Yaya Toure on his way?
Would love him here. Can’t see it but still think he’s enough in the tank to be a player at a lower end prem club.
He’s been a tremendous player, a level above anything we’ve had or have.
Worth the risk for me. 6 months of Ya Ya playing anything like would keep us up easily.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini says bringing Yaya Toure to the club would not be a priority as they currently have adequate cover in midfield.FactualFrank wrote:Yaya Toure on his way? Yep, to Palace or WBA going off latest reports.

Toure is a free agent having left Olympiakos by 'mutual agreement' on Tuesday after just three months and five appearances at the Greek Super League club.

Unlikely I know but Milner would be ideal for us. Great engine can play in numerous positions with a positive attitude. If he did move on there would no doubt be a host of clubs after him.

Absolutely agree. I said to the Missus after the Liverpool game that if you asked SD which player from their team would he chose, Id be certain it would be Milner. A class act and model professional. As for Yaya, can't see it and certainly hope there's nothing in it.colne-claret wrote:Class act these days is Milner. Got better with age.

Milner is no spring chicken and will no doubt be aware that next season his chances of being in Liverpool's starting eleven will be limited. If he wants to play regular first team football for the next three or four years then he should definitely consider a 'small step down' to a North West club like ours.beddie wrote:Unlikely I know but Milner would be ideal for us. Nothing lost for SD inviting him to discuss how he might be a perfect fit for our set up and how he would be highly likely to be one of the first names on our teamsheet.
