only problem with that is it is Nike's discount brand - does that mean Nike are ashamed to be directly associated with usStan8 wrote:Umbro 100%

I think Nike sold Umbro a good few years ago.Chester Perry wrote:only problem with that is it is Nike's discount brand - does that mean Nike are ashamed to be directly associated with us
Re: Umbro kit next yr
Nike sold Umbro to Iconix a few years back. They're now just basically a licensing company who sell their name. All the manufacturing is done by some Scottish company whose name escapes me at the moment.

If true, a bad decision from a marketing and branding perspective, cost accounting at its worst. Umbro has had a sad decline to what it is today. Think Admiral, or being owned by Mike Ashley. So not Premier League. I would really want to hear from the Board on this one.

Didn't we get relegated in the season we wore the V strip ? .......... That may be why I don't like it too much.

The blue V is an abomination.
Re: Umbro kit next yr
Didn’t Ashley do some sort of deal with Nike to ensure that Nike got the England kit?
I always used to like an Umbro kit.

And Everton and West Ham have had some very nice kits over the past few seasons. Bournemouth not so much, to be fair.martin_p wrote:Everton, West Ham and Bournemouth wear Umbro shirts, are they not Premier League?
Re: Umbro kit next yr
The Umbro kits this year are easily the best out of all the manufacturers (except them lot down the road)

Even Accy Stanley have Adidas.
Re: Umbro kit next yr
Any move away from Puma can only be a good thing. I can’t say I’ve liked their kits. I hate all the identikits that teams get forced to wear. It seems odd that my son’s under sevens team can have a bespoke kit knocked up no problem yet they can’t do this for professional teams (apart from Arsenal of course).

It'd be good if they come up with something bespoke that really splits opinion. I'm not a kit wearer myself, but I'd like one that you either love or hate, just for the forum bants. They've all looked the same for a while, so maybe go for that big 'V'. Promising divided feedback already.

I like this years shirts. The sponsor logo is awful but the shirt itself, as seen with the kids replica strips looks superb and distinctive!

These are the guys that make Umbro kit https://www.gldgroup.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They're like a low level Sports Direct, even the guy who owns them looks somewhat similar:

I love the blue V kit, I’m just not sure it’d work with a huge sponsors logo splashed across it.

Re: Umbro kit next yr
The umbro kits are great. Most look classic but modern. West hams is great . That with blue sleeves would be perfect. Every umbro kit looks different to one another.
Some of the most inconic british kits have been umbro. England mexico 86 and italia 90. England euro 96 (although that was typical 90s). Liverpool late 70s early 80s. Unites treble winning kits.
Id be happy with umbro. Nike and adidas are all a bit boring to be honest.

Has this been confirmed anywhere? Can't find it. Would be suited though, Puma is terrible.

Re: Umbro kit next yr
Would be happy with this. The Puma kits have been fine with last season’s being my favourite. It’ll be nice for a change and other than Nike or Adidas (we’d only get generic catalogue kits from these two anyway), Umbro would be a good choice. Last season’s West Ham kit by Umbro was tremendous.
Possible downside is that Rover’s charge £50 for their Umbro kits I think.
