A New Incentive to SCORE GOALS.
A Win= 3 points.
A score draw=2 points.
A bore draw=1 point.
A loss=Minus 1 point. All opinions are welcome.

But a loss should be zero points not minus one.

Re: A New Incentive to SCORE GOALS.
Nope.
2 teams who both need 2 points to avoid relegation would just agree to allow each other to score - match fixing possibilities are almost endless

Re: A New Incentive to SCORE GOALS.
Pretty sure I read years ago, maybe 1980’s?, that in Poland they did 3 points for a win, but 4 points if it was by 3 or more goals.
Perhaps that model but if you got beat by 3 goals or more you lost a point?
It would make the end of games exciting!

Please no more tampering with the laws of game please.
Re: A New Incentive to SCORE GOALS.
Teams would settle for score draws. The current system encourages teams to win. If you drew every game in a season currently you would be almost certainly relegated.

Agreed. If it's 1-1 with 20 minutes to go, you would stand to gain 1 point if you scored but lose 3 if you conceded. So both sides would play for a draw.groove wrote:Teams would settle for score draws. The current system encourages teams to win. Currently drawing every game give you 38 points and you'd have to be pretty unlucky these days to get relegated on 38 points.groove wrote: If you drew every game in a season currently you would be almost certainly relegated.

Points allocation is not part of the laws of the game, surely.

Re: A New Incentive to SCORE GOALS.
Anyone remember that nonsense in the mid to late 90s when they scrapped goal difference in favour of goals scored? If I remember rightly we could have been relegated under this rule in the Waddle season as our rivals had scored more but we had significantly better goal difference.
Re: A New Incentive to SCORE GOALS.
Goal music. Lots of it. Louder and louder. In fact music leading up to a goal so it really makes you want to see a goal, for example Sweet Caroline if the PA person times it right as the ball smacked the back of the net we would all just have sung touching you oo oo then the chorus. But could we get a top DJ or PA or would we shop as always from one of our feeder clubs ? So instead of Fat Boy Slim we'd get a local radio evening slot person.
