Clarets total spend?
There was a figure being bandied around, a couple of years ago, that our total transfer spend, in club history, was less than Manure had spent on Pogba.
Can anybody remember what that figure was or, even better, what our historical spend is now.

Yes it was some point in the summer of 2017, we'd only spent something like 70m in our complete history I think.piston broke wrote:There was a figure being bandied around, a couple of years ago, that our total transfer spend, in club history, was less than Manure had spent on Pogba.

Way out of date now though that stat, we are pushing towards the 71m mark nowadays...

First reaction to that is that, if United paid £98m for Pogba, then the two figures will be very similar.piston broke wrote:There was a figure being bandied around, a couple of years ago, that our total transfer spend, in club history, was less than Manure had spent on Pogba.

We've been around now some 136 years but half of that total spend will have occured in the last 4 seasons.

It was also mentioned when di Maria made his Utd debut at t’turf a couple more years ago.

Re: Clarets total spend?
It was 2014 when Utd bought Di Maria for £60 million, we had spent £45 million in our history at that point.
We've splashed plenty since 2014 !!

Re: Clarets total spend?
Difficult to say with absolute certainty, mainly due to the fact that many of Burnley incoming transfers are undisclosed fees, but I suspect that the £11m we paid for Vydra will mean we have now exceeded the £98m that United paid for Pogba.
