Re: Hard luck
Gutted with that. Thought it was a brave performance after a brave selection.
While it wasnt one that the neutrals will like. Who cares? It was a joy to watch defensively. And every player showed fight and determination.
Joe Hart made two outstanding saves. The back five were tough and solid. And Barnes worked his arse off.
It was an excellent tactical decision from Dyche. You cant go there and try and take the game to them. On another day Barnes excellent volley goes in and maybe Taylor gets a penalty.
Plenty of heart and plenty to be optimistic about.
Long sticking his head on one epitomises what we are about.
Next season style has to improve (for dyche as much as anyone elses interests) but for now thats exactly the sort of performance we need. Bring on Arsenal.

Back to the same resolute defensive display of last season. Very unlucky to concede so late on but it gives confidence to haul us away from the lower end of the table during January and February

Hhhmmm pros and cons, we did well, were fortunate for it not to have been a deafeat by at leasr couple of goals, but offered diddly squat going forward.
Cruel in the end as it was so close, but we can't say we deserved anything other than 0 points.
GD could be massive come May, so not a bad day at the office IMO

Brilliant defending that such a same we switched off a little but can't fault that back to where we were
Re: Hard luck
Not really went for a point and got nothing but at least the battling and defending was there - rather be in championship where at least we can have a go and not a boring defence v attack game

A bit more time with this system and we’ll be ok. Just need the full backs to make more runs, giving us more options.

Probably a fair result, but gutted to concede so late after working so hard to keep them out all game. Some incredible effort from the team.

Got what we deserved. I dont get people liking that performance, we barely attacked. I was bored watching it. We defended resolutely but you cant offer nothing going forward and expect to get something. I would have rather is had a bit of a go and got beat by a few.bartons baggage wrote:You still a claret?

Getting beat by a few? Fulham are 6 goals behind us. Had we lost 5 nil today we could be going bottom in the week leading up to xmas. And not many survive from that position.claretcarrot93 wrote:Got what we deserved. I dont get people liking that performance, we barely attacked. I was bored watching it. "It looked as if the Clarets had held on to a deserved point"
Neutrals don't agree that we got what we deserved.

Re: Hard luck
It's incredibly difficult to get anything off the top six this season - give me 1-0 v Spurs over 5-0 v City and 4-0 v Chelsea every time - the last three performances have been more in keeping with last season and all have been very close to the fine margins so often articulated by SD
I feared the worst given our season so far coming into the Liverpool game but since then much more positive about our survival chances.

Sorry, but what an absolute load of cr4p!! So, you'd have been happy for us to attack more but get beat 3 or 4 nil??? You are a very strange fan!claretcarrot93 wrote:Got what we deserved. When you go away to a team like Spurs you have to try and keep in the game as long as you can. A point would have been a fantastic one gained. They didn't absolutely batter us which could have happened. Our overall play has been so much better in the last 3 games but it's very difficult to get anything against the "big" teams.
Anyway, enjoy wallowing in your own misery.

..and the Palace game or the Watford game.
The big difference is the effort and teamwork, which seems to be back and the fans appreciate that.
Re: Hard luck
One positive is that we could play 3 at the back with Gibson in for Long and play Lowton at right back and have a right good go at the lesser teams.
At least he tried something different

I’ve just been on the Cross Cocks forum and, Jeez, they are the most graceless bunch of w4nkers out there. Personally, I hope they get their arses kicked in every competition they are still in and, at the end of the season, they lose Kane and diving Ali to some foreign outfit. They post like the witless w4nkers we know them to be but they can’t see the fact they really struggled to break us down this season before scoring in the 91st minute, and only equalised in the 93rd minute last season. If we are that bad, they can’t be that good in only just scraping results even when we aren’t playing as well as we can. F*ckwits, the lot of them.

Re: Hard luck
It was hard luck.
We did defend for most of the game and looked comfortable doing so.
An immense performance by Barnes in the first half.
I enjoyed watching the game and we did create chances which will come now that we are more aggressive.

Re: Hard luck
Individual performances continue to improve along with work rate, tempo, aggression and organisation. The 5-4-1 formation might be 'understandable' against the top teams away from home but our offensive threat was virtually non existent.
A very good defensive display but back to 4-4-2 after the Arsenal game please Sean.

If your only game plan is stick 10 men behind the ball and waste as much time as possible then you don't deserve anything. Don't think I've seen a more negative display in all my years of watching us.

Re: Hard luck
Personally I didn't enjoy watching that. While the defending was excellent and we kept it tight for 88 minutres we offered little to the game and I'm still worried about out ability with the ball. We have offered little all season and don't look like a premier League team. I'm affraid our organization and ability to defend is the only reason we are still in the leauge. It would be nice to see us play some football. At least we are not shipping goals now.

Against the top teams we're 1940s Belgium v Hitler's Wehrmacht.

Re: Hard luck
I can take us playing defensively but there has to be some kind of plan or attacking intent to go with it. Even on the odd occasion we won a free kick in a dangerous area we were more concerned with wasting time. Sorry but I just can't enjoy watching us play like that, even if we'd have nicked a draw.CombatClaret wrote:Our resources are so disparate why can you not accept we have to play ugly to survive?
