Jug Ears
Jug Ears
Old jug ears Lineker doesn’t like us does he ?
He rarely has a good word to say about us and Ian Wright isn’t much more complimentary either. To be fair to Shearer he is the only one who tends to agree with Dyche and also respects the way our teams work hard and fight.
Last nights MoTD good example.
FA Cup ears opens up by having a dig at Dyche.
He then questions whether it’s a penalty on Long.
He then says Xhaka did not dive - Wright agrees. Why did he fall over then without being touched by Vydra ?
Not saying there is a big conspiracy theory against our club but I just can’t stand the arrogance and laziness of some of the pundits in their analysis. Jug ears is arrogant and is always bias against teams who do not play like Barcelona and Wright is just thick and too lazy to give any in depth analysis. He is on TV purely to sort out his tax bills.

Re Xhaka, they said he tried to lean his shoulder into Mee but missed and fell over so wasn’t a dive.

Re: Jug Ears
To be fair, it's his job to comment and I reckon that the MOTD team are generally pretty reasonable towards us.
I admit to being a little surprised by his flippant comment regarding Dyche about him being unhappy more and more these days.
Long did go down in a strange - and therefore in the ref's mind, at least, and doubtful - way.
I didn't see the Xhaka incident so can't comment.
I'm afraid you gave your true agenda away when you mentioned Lineker and/or Wright's alleged tax issues............

Re: Jug Ears
eddie..I partially agree with you in your comment about Long.. strange is correct - I think he tried to make the most of it; we never get penalties so he was ‘helping’ the referee award us one.
What is beyond doubt though, is that he clearly got a very firm two-handed push in the back by the defender..easily seen on TV and a very obvious penalty.
TV showed that the third Arsenal goal was offside.
We were very badly treated by the referee yesterday.
No surprises.

Agenda ?
I never mentioned Linekers tax issues - I don’t think he has any !
Wright has admitted himself the only reason he started working on radio and TV was because of his tax situation.
As for the Long incident - I agree that he exaggerated it. I have said previously a few times that I would advocate a change to the law whereby if a player is adjudged to have exaggerated then irrespective of whether there was contact then it is not a penalty or a foul is given to the opposition because the player is trying to deceive the officials. Long did this yesterday (not overtly but he still did it). But by the letter of the current law it is still a penalty and I can’t believe none of the officials saw such a blatant push with both hands used and no other players crowding the view of the linesman.

Re: Jug Ears
Long was pushed in the back and a natural defence is to brace yourself and lean back into the force. If that force is released you can stagger or fall backwards as Long did-nothing strange about it
Re: Jug Ears
To be fair it looked “strange” that a 6ft 3 inch strapping centre back would fall like he did from not the most forceful of pushes. Maybe he lost balance but did not look like a purely natural fall to me.
Still 100% a penalty though
Still 100% a penalty though

Re: Jug Ears
Long did ham it up but given some of the dubious pens Arsenal and Tottenham among others have been gifted in the last few seasons against us,but how the referee's assistant couldn't call a two-handed push a foul IDK.TVC15 wrote:Agenda ?

I thought any contact in the box was a spot-kick,seemingly not unless your one of the chosen top six.

Certainly feels that way when recently we have almost had a player's head kicked off and now a clear two-handed shove, all waved away.

Re: Jug Ears
Saw MOTD last night ( first time this yr)and I’m presuming the little grey jug eared Jewish grandmother was in fact “ our Gary” ? He’s ok for what he does I guess but whenever you see Ian Wright you just know the bar has been lowered to nothing more than the grunts and badly informed sound bites of a simpleton
Re: Jug Ears
If I wasn't a Burnley fan I would probably dislike us as well. Our football is prehistoric!

Re: Jug Ears
They didn’t even bother showing the incident where Vydra was given offside when more than a yard onside and the lino was in the perfect position or the elbows and head rub on Ash.a

Re: Jug Ears
wright is a useless ****, no two ways about it. He can barely talk, and cant be bothered even acknowledging our existance.
Linekar is a patronising , grinning turd .
There is a tiny clique of laddish presenters who flit about from channel to channel picking up money , same bland batch of slop.
High time it was all freshened up.

Or you could stop paying the licence fee thereby denying the BBC funding... and watch TV illegally and risk a £1000 fine.randomclaret2 wrote:Keep paying the Licence Fee folks...
The licence fee is a neccessity to watch ALL TELEVISION .....
Re: Jug Ears
Not quite trueIanMcL wrote:Which was true.
It was Vydra not Mee !
Plus I think it was one of those where he was looking to go down by initiating a coming together and ended up forgetting about the contact bit. By that point in the game the Arsenal players knew they had all their officials in their back pockets.
Far more blatant than this incident was the foul they gave on Barnes when Lichtsteiner dived - Barnes was nowhere near him and had a one on one chance denied. The number of decisions that went against us yesterday was ridiculous and so many were clear cut.

That was absolute blatant cheating by the linesman ...no flag waving required.pretty shocked by that one!piston broke wrote:They didn’t even bother showing the incident where Vydra was given offside when more than a yard onside and the lino was in the perfect position or the elbows and head rub on Ash.a

Re: Jug Ears
Ian Wright has never really said anything good about us, to be honest! we were just a stop gap in his nearly finished career where Stan rescued him. I'm grateful to him for signing for us but It's almost as if we didn't exist in his eyes.

Re: Jug Ears
they forget that without teams outside the top six, there would be no league. The bias towards arsenal in particular is hideous.

Re: Jug Ears
Unfortunately, Wright is too thick to be able to hide his Arsenal colours when he is doing a job (said very loosely for a waffling baffoon like Wright) which should be impartial. Take Gary Neville as a totally opposite example - he can be very critical of United and forms a much more balanced opinion most of the time. Wrighty is just a slightly posher Paul Merson!beddie wrote:Ian Wright has never really said anything good about us, to be honest! we were just a stop gap in his nearly finished career where Stan rescued him.
