Re: Gary Parkinson
I listened to this when it was broadcast, and my overriding impression was what an extraordinarily courageous, loyal and supportive woman Deborah Parkinson is, a remarkable lady ! Best wishes to the whole family !

Re: Gary Parkinson
Heart breaking. Possibly the worse illness imaginable.
His wife, kids and Gary himself should be immensely proud of how they have and continue to handle this.
Puts everything into perspective.

What a fantastic family. Why is life so cruel sometimes. I just pray that things change for the better for Gary and soon, he's such a great guy.

Good luck Parky. You'll never be forgotten by anyone who saw you score the winner for us at Wembley.

Reading that is very sobering. Makes you realise how lucky you are. Good luck to Gary and his family.

Re: Gary Parkinson
What a cruel illness. But what a wonderful family. I sometimes think I’m having a terrible time of life. Nothing near what the Parkinson’s everyday is like. Perspective is the word.
All the best Parky.

Spot on this. Gives a sick feeling in the stomach every time I read about what he and his family have had to go through.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Heart breaking. Possibly the worse illness imaginable.

What a courageous family.Life can be so cruel sometimes ,why do things like this hsppen to the nicest of families. You have to wonder why God allows this to happen, surely there has to be a reason why it is the good people who are made to suffer.
Let us all be thankful if we have our good health, so many people are in a similar situation to Gary and his wonderful family.

Re: Gary Parkinson
Hopefully some of his clarets colleagues are providing support. Good luck Parky - I was there in ‘94.

Life can be cruel, Gary's winning goal helped set up the club for where we are now,he deserves our love and support, likewise his family. Hopefully in a generation such awful illnesses will be consigned to history.
Edit
Seeing that run, I cant be angry with Steve Davis anymore.

Re: Gary Parkinson
lost for words really, what a battle for everyone concerned. Gary's fighting spirit is incredible.
Re: Gary Parkinson
I must admit, I find it very difficult reading article etc. about Gary and what he and his family are going through.
I can’t think of anything worse than being literally ‘locked in’. It must be torturous in so many ways!
Life can cruel beyond belief.

Re: Gary Parkinson
8 years now he has been in this state. I have spoken to his son Luke a few times on Twitter. I worked in the Sponsors lounge mid 90s and players around come in the bar after the game. Parky was a good guy, approachable and up for a laugh. He took and missed a penalty at home the season after Wembley, and after the game I managed to get him wearing a pair of jam jar bottom specs in the hope he would score the next penalty.
He got his own back a few games later as pre match I used to take drinks to the manager and refs room under the CF stand. I managed to drop a bottle of whisky outside Jimmy Mullens room which was opposite the tunnel. Parky was one of a couple of players who saw this and I got a fair bit of stick, mainly about clearing up before Jimmy came out with a straw! After the game I was presented with a pair of Marlon's gloves by Parky to help with my safe handling of future drink orders.
Luke told these tales to Parky a few years back and he remembered the incidents. I can't even begin to imagine what Gary has gone through and continues to endure, as said previously it must be the worst condition to suffer with. The work of his family has been remarkable and I have nothing but admiration for their devotion to Gary. I live in hope that one day there will be a cure and his suffering will end. Good player, Wembley hero but most importantly a really top bloke.
