Pochettino : Should He Stick With Spurs?

Post by ElectroClaret » Sun Dec 23, 2018 11:00 pm

Just watched MOTD 2. He was interviewed on the pitch, no questions about the United job
(or any other). They were probably instructed not to mention it, as Spurs pre match
conferences have been so-directed lately.

If Man U came, should he take the job?
Or can he achieve his ambitions with Tottenham?

I suspect that United have ‘come’ already and that He’ll move north in the Summer.

If he stays at Tottenham i'm guessing he'll want guarantees that their stars won't be sold in the summer.

He has built a strong squad on a relative shoestring, but he hasn't won silverware yet,if Man Utd come calling it's a hard gig to turn down.

If Poch did take the plunge i wonder if there would be a stipulation in his contract that he couldn't raid Spurs often players follow the manager.

No.
I hope / think Spurs are stringing Man U along.
Funny if so.
He has a better squad, new stadium, long contract and all the cards regarding any new deal.
Spurs will finish top 4 and will spend this time probably.
Plus he can do no wrong at Spurs...
At United ? he would last 2 years top.

I have a feeling also that he will stay put and if he does leave which he will one day he will probably go to Spain or Portugal.

Utd - seems to be more concern about the commercial side of the club these last couple of years then dominating on the pitch.
Player/agent power is also a major issue from the looks of it.
From Pogba/his agent to Shaw being classed as overweight etc.
Appears leaderless at the top.

Spurs - playing good football, new stadium, Chairman with his head screwed on.
They have an occasional issue with player power but it'd usually dealt with quickly.

Yeah it's Utd and all that guff, but it's not the Utd we all got used to seeing.
They're a proper mess and without strong backing from the board it won't get better anytime soon.

Should definitely stay there. Especially as he is yet to prove himself a top, top manager.

A bad run and he would be severely under question. He has a bit more security with Spurs as Dyche does with us. And to be honest probably more chance of success there too. He just needs to win a trophy soon!

United need a complete overhaul.

Aging players still relied on too heavily.
Awful defence.
A player in Pogba with the talent and ego of Ronaldo but the application of Gascoigne and attitude of Balotelli!
Zero transfer strategy.

WTF De Gea is still doing there is beyond me!

I'm still searching for what he's actually done as a manager.

Anyone else found owt yet?

You don’t turn down Man United if you’re the Spurs manager.

The two clubs are on a completely different stratosphere.

He’ll stay unless Real Madrid come calling. He’ll love the chance of knocking Barcelona of there perch for a good few years.

But that couldve been argued as the case when chelsea came on the block or city. Vs liverpool or united or even arsenal.

Spurs at this minute in time on the pitch and possibly even off it are far more progressive.

You mean apart from convert Spurs from also rans to one of the best teams in Europe whilst barely spending anything? All while playing great football and showing he has complete respect of all his squad. If you ask me what Pochettino and Simeone at Athletico have achieved is far more impressive than Guardiola buying success at City.

Kind of weird that anyone might not regard what Poch has Spurs to be anything other than impressive. Surely qualifying for the Champions League on repeat and ending Arsenal’s north London domination counts for something. And doing it all while balancing the books compared with the ‘project’ at Man City.
United have a rotten core dominated by creating profits for their owners, given he’s resisted overtures from Real Madrid, happen he’ll stay put a bit longer at spurs. Hope so. I’d like to see them win something.

If Tottenham through desire or player power sell any of the above, this may prove the deciding factor in Poch's thinking,it's hard to see them hanging onto Kane in particular,if Madrid offer silly money 100 million + next summer.

He should stay and let his alter ego, Potter Chino take the job.

I've heard quite a few pundits talking about him, Jenas, Keown et al so he must be good

The difference between being an 'also ran' and 'one of the best teams in Europe' is finishing one place higher in the Premier League.

Interesting.
