Re: Which day is best?
Christmas Day, Boxing Day (football) and New Year's Day (plans for the year ahead), with Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve normally decent for TV.
Re: Which day is best?
I thought Boxing Day was invented for footy

Hogmanay and New Year’s Day. Christmas is shoved in your face from end of October every year and by the time mid December comes just want it over and done with.
Re: Which day is best?
NYE>BD>CD>CE>NYD. I hate Jan 1st. Can't imagine why, like, but I've hated it ten years in a row. Perhaps NYE might have something to answer for.

I'm glad I don't live in your house and am forced to watch the programmes that you do!FactualFrank wrote:Christmas Day, Boxing Day (football) and New Year's Day (plans for the year ahead), with Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve normally decent for TV.
This time around with no footy on NYD I would say Boxing Day stands out by a country mile as the most looked forward to by far.
Re: Which day is best?
I've rarely liked NYE, and in fact one of the few that was actually good was one spent in Burnley ('88-'89). It's over-priced and underwhelming.
Re: Which day is best?
Even when the football is on, I invariably hate New Year’s Day. I’m usually far too rough to enjoy the football and after all the build up and festivities, that’s it - back to work the next day - meh!
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for me with Boxing Day a close third.

Christmas Day. Love watching family open their presents. Sadly the grandkids are past the age where I would spend hours putting stuff together for them.

Both Xmas and Boxing Day especially this year with a proper localish derby not some random trip to the N East as in previous times

Re: Which day is best?
Changes this year with new addition, so looking back;
Boxing Day - football and clubbing
New Years Day - Clubbing
Christmas Day - family, presents then after food goes downhill
Christmas Eve - meet with 30/40 old friend for a drink and food
New Years Eve - has some amazing ‘one off’ nights mainly on holiday but over all a let down, especially as a music person NYD has always been the night
