Re: Gibson in
Longs out. Harsh but couldnt see it being Mee. Overall Mee is our best cb out of him and long and this looks like an excellent system potentially.

Long is better than Mee, he has all the physical tools which Mee doesn’t.

Lowton and Vokes in too.
Didn't think that Bardsley had looked too bad.
Happy for Vokes to get a go.

Bardsleys been great. But a lot of games over next week. Plus with 3 solid centre halves peehaps better to have lowton whos better going forwards.the_fat_shearer wrote:Lowton and Vokes in too.

Re: Gibson in
Not sure I would have been changing the defense around after recent performances. If Lowton gets his late season form of recent years rather than his start of season form, which is always dodgy then I can see why he's been brought back. But that is why Sean is paid the money.

Re: Gibson in
I think the inclusion of Gibson might be to capitalise on his passing/distribution. Possibly pinging out diagonals which would explain the Lowton/Bardlsey swap. Overall it should give us more going forward.
I was expecting Mee/Tarks/Long with Tarks having a little license to push into midfield which would allow one of the central midfielders to move into the final third to support the strikers.
The Gibson inclusion could work though and it's good to see us experimenting a bit. We need a bit more forward oomph with our creative wingers not playing a part at the moment and Lennon recovering.

Re: Gibson in
With Brady and Iceland both out, Lowton is our best option of getting crosses in. I'm assuming that is the reasoning.

Looking like Bardsley got a start for his better defending. Kept his spot cos he got MoM, then we won. Then two tough away days.the_fat_shearer wrote:Lowton and Vokes in too.

Happy for Vokes to get a go.
Need better crossing today so Matt is back.

To be fair to Gibson. I think he has actually looked fairly steady.

Re: Gibson in
Yes he has looked pretty steady. Trouble is, he's surrounded by the usual dross.

Good, considering the score in his 1st game since injury.

Good, because he remained focussed on putting the ball in the net, instead of twirling around with his arm in the air to look at the ref.South West Claret. wrote:Good, considering the score in his 1st game since injury.
