When this guy started reffing I thought he was really good, made generally good decisions and was a breath of fresh air. Now he’s part of the system it’s like watching any of the others. I thought he was poor today, again, but even with the best ref in the league we would still have been well beaten.

I thought his (non) decision to deal with Zouma’s attempted tackle from behind on Vokes as he blew for half time abdicated his responsibility to keep players safe. Not his best day at the office but not his worst either.

Spot on. He bottled that one.

We had no officials at the World Cup only because the one we'd nominated decided to pack in refereeing in this country and it was too late to do anything about it. I'm sure it would have been Martin Atkinson who has now retired from international football.

I like Oliver and think he is one of the best PL refs. Unfortunately he is very much on the side of the big boys and it showed today.
