Who should be dropped for Sunday's game?

Post by Brisliam » Wed Dec 26, 2018 4:55 pm

Surely we can't keep the same team going.

Lowton will be banned so that’s straight forward. But you could justifiably drop any of them

Not forgetting Taylor who put us on the back foot so early in the game. Terrible defending.

I sense that was a forced move due to Gibson's match fitness.

Hart.

Not for any real rational or logical reason because he's been making some great stops (but he's not very commanding when it comes to aerial crosses) but we need to get back to the old Burnley when we had Tom in as captain.

Clutching at straws maybe. But you never know. Stranger things have happened.

We need to get Tom back even though he only let 6 in in his last game. If you believe what you are told in the foundation Hart is on £140k a week and it's all his fault. No one mentioned the short comings of Lowton, Tarky, Mee, Taylor and Cork.

Vokes and Hart. Unless we’re going to play someone very mobile, Sam cannot be in the starting 11. When he does, we play poorly.

Bardsley Gibson Tarks Mee Long Taylor
Vokes Wood

might as well set up properly for a point

Drop:
Head and Shoulders man....an ok shot stopper but looking like he can't command a defence. The evidence? Well he's consistently picking the ball out of the net far more than Heaton ever did.
Mee...his head I somewhere else. Bring in Kevin Long.
Cork is looking a bit of a lightweight. Midfield is crying out for a hard man midfielder to prevent the middle of the field being over run and resulting in the defence being battered. With such a player in place, allows Cork time and space to work creatively in mid field.

I’m still seething about that today.

Mee was awful today completely lost in the centre, where you’d have thought a captain, leader and organiser would have done a decent job. Tarks was abysmal as were lowton and Taylor (the latter two positionallymlooke dclueless. Westwood and Cork did the grand total of nothing positive.
Vokes and Barnes were shocking but had very little to work with.
As for Dyche takinh jeff off showed his predictability as did swapping Vokes for wood.

I’d like to swap 9 of them but that’s not realistic and I genuinely don’t know what I’d do at this minute but I’d certainly be watching the game back time and time again, pin posting the errors but there be no loyalty shown to anyone, that ship has sailed.

Hart, for all the reasons stated.

No-one played well, but for me Tarkowski stood out as the worst of the defence. Gave the ball away umpteen times and missed a sitter which could have changed the game.

If you drop a player you have to believe the replacement is better.

Heaton for Hart
Bardsley for Lowton
Ward for Taylor
Vydra for anyone
McNeill for anyone

Oh how today’s game depressed me......

I've been advocating for a while that Heaton is a better keeper for us than Hart. I'd certainly make the change before it's too late. I also can't for the life of me understand why Lowton came in for Bardsley who, overall for me, has been our most effective player over the last month.

Taylor should not play again this season.

I would go as far as saying if he plays all season we go down.

If he is replaced now we have half a chance.

Goalie needs to be changed. Pope when fit.

Hi lrac, "like" shouldn't be read that I agree with "drop the lot of them." Just, I thought to myself, I'll take a look at this thread. I'm sure someone will go for "drop the lot of them."

Me? I didn't see today's game. I was at Arsenal, Spurs before that, Crystal Palace (that was tough to watch) and West Ham. I saw some different performances. We nearly, 3 minutes nearly, got a point at Spurs. We were behind quickly in the other 3 - so, maybe similar start to today - except we were 2 down, and then 3, very quickly.

From a distance, and not having seen today's game, I'm thinking that the 3 CBs were the wrong 3 and, at least 2 of them in the wrong position. So, Tarks, Gibson, Mee have never played together before whereas Long, Tarks, Mee it would have been their 3rd game together. Maybe there are good reasons for this change, but it didn't work out.... However, if we keep the same 3 on Sunday there will have been more time for what went wrong to be worked out. Or, maybe 3 CBs isn't right for every game and we are back to 4-4-2 (or 4-5-1).

Keeper has conceded 5. Yes, if Nick Pope is fit I'd start with Nick.... more likely, Tom should be starting - we've got to believe he's fully fit and his injury is a long way behind him.

it get's harder as we think of the "wing halves" or "full backs" - I'd love it if we had some real wing halves.

Midfield and forwards: we need fitness and competitive "fight."

And, I'm out of ideas.... :(

We definitely need to drop the 532/352 formation.

I never want to see that at home with this squad again.

Whether it was by instruction, lack of confidence or reaction to Everton pushing their wingers on, we spent significant periods with a flat back 5. It was rancid.

I think Tom deserves a start.

I also think Dwight McNeil is not ready but give the lad a start all the same. He won't get used to the PL unless he's given the chance to try to get used to it.
Just my opinion.
