Putting aside all the doom and gloom of 2018 what is the most excited you have been for a Burnley game in your lifetime. This is not about the experience during or after the game as the result can make a big difference but more about the build up and your anticipation towards the game

I started going on properly as the 80's turned into the 90's but for me the first game against the B*stards after going up in 2000 was the game that I has been waiting for all my life

Wembley 2009, without a doubt.

Also, as I would have been 13 at the time, Wigan at home in 2000 (Ian Wright's debut).

Preston away,1973. Swindon,league cup semi final replay, 1968. Wembley,2009 and probably any game(especially at home between 1960 and 1963, with special emphasis on the 1961-62 season.

Neil Moore’s last minute header away at Preston, Dean West scoring a screamer at Stoke, Andy Cooke scoring the winner at Derby in the FA Cup, and the last minute goals at Oxford in our promotion season under Stan, after getting ****** wet through for 90 minutes. Just a few of the memories that will stay with me forever.

I used to love away games, and travelling with Colne Clarets. As a kid, I used to love the coach convoys, and the traffic grinding to a halt as the coaches were escorted through the traffic. I remember at Coventry away in the FA Cup when we were beat 2-0, there must have been over 50 coaches, and the locals looking on in amazement at our numbers.

April 2014, first really important game my son attended with me, promotion clincher v Wigan.
You could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air, no way were we going to fail that day.
We won 2-0, Barnes and Kightly.

Our second goal was a delight. We played some wonderful football that season. How we miss someone like Ings dropping deep and linking the play.

Those are great moments and good to share but I was more thinking of the one game you looked forward to before it started regardless of what went on in the game itself and the result. For example beating B*astards and things like the Derby FA Cup night under Mullen are my most special moments because of what happened but I have never looked forward to a game so much as the game i highlighted

Wembley 09, Chelsea 08 or the second promotion day. Boro losing the night before, watching Brighton fail on the big screen in the fanzone and watching it go crazy when (I think) Derby scored? Everything fell into place that weekend.

It would have to be the first time we played Rovers.

Sherpa Van Trophy final has to be one of the best. Within weeks (or even days) of the Orient game we traveled down for the League Centenary game, I told a friend that while it was awesome it would be better next year watching Burnley at the Twin Towers. I had forgotten only for him to remind me of the conversation of 12 months previously.

There have been nearly as many high points since as there had been lows in the years running up to Orient. It would be heartbreaking to go down with a whimper after defying the world of football so long. I hate my club being seen as relegation fodder whatever the league.

Similarly i had great expectations and even greater disappointment or anti climax after many games.

Watford fa cup quarter. Just sheer anger at that one.
Wigan ian wright game.
Bastards away 2001.
Wrexham at home 1992.
Stoke away 2009.
1997 Waddle vs Gillingham. I was a ball boy. I didnt even get a touch. I quit after one game.
Various preston away games especially under stan and cotterill.


Biggest has to be Bolton away 2010 though.

Yes agree. The sense of anticipation and whole atmosphere at aberdeen was something i wll never forget.

York away

First match, 4-4 draw, Stoke away, '63. Remember little of the actual game. But the atmosphere hooked me.
Playing Leeds off the pitch 4-1 at Bellend Rd, '74. Saddness at Frank's injury though.
Stuffing Spurs away same score in the cup.
Sherpa Van final. Result didn't matter. After what had gone on, we knew we were on the long way back.
Derby away in the cup were we told the football world what we already knew. Burnley were back.
Beating the Jockey boys at Bollywood after not doing it for a while. (The double over them 78/79 was good too)
Last season. European qualification.

Those are just a few.

Carlisle away where we could have won the 4th division title. We broke down on the way and didn’t make the game. We didn’t win the title. Then the York away game which we did manage to get to. Fantastic evening in terms of build up.
