The Vydra Question
This is really annoying me has anyone get any theory that is remotely plausible as to why Vydra isn't playing?
I will even take submissions from the more eccentric posters.

He said he was a vegan thus not being able to enjoy one of SD legendary omelettes, this infuriated SD and banished him to the reserves and bench.

There's still a little bit of pace and flair left for Dyche to knock out of him before he can play for us.

Re: The Vydra Question
Needs to be deployed in the no.10 role. Sadly we still haven’t found a way to play with this yet. How? I don’t know but there we go.

This would be my suggestion if everyone was fit.Something needs to change, if Brady and Defour aren’t fit then Westwood and Taylor. I don’t think Taylor is up to the battle we are facing . I’d also be tempted to say Hendrick over Cork too as he’s looking way off the pace .

Re: The Vydra Question
There seems to be an obsession about playing some new recruits-Vydra, Tarks (for a whole year), Wells, Gibson. Cant be good for their motivation
He looks quick and runs into good channels and space. Suspect Dyche thinks he is a little lightweight. Think he has not been treated unfairly, considering he is one of our dearest recruits
What message does it send to anyone we might be approaching

Absolutely no sodding idea. If he'd looked poor in his cameos you might excuse it, but he hasn't.
Why buy players and not use them ?
Why buy players who are good at what they do, then try to change them into something they're not ?

Re: The Vydra Question
It seems that when we sign players, Sean Dyche often likes to integrate them gradually into the team so that they have time in training to learn what is required of them. Seems reasonable.

Re: The Vydra Question
Have you actually watched his cameos? Argue that he needs time to settle in or more game time to get into form, but don't argue that his appearances show he's looked good. That may be our game that makes him look worse but we're not going to change our style of play to accommodate a player who once scored the most goals in the league below and in his previous (albeit brief) outing at this level failed.Colburn_Claret wrote:Absolutely no sodding idea. mental signing. might as well have persevered with Wells
Re: The Vydra Question
Because he's been frozen out for 6 months when he does get on you sense he is too eager to impress and trying too hard, hence the ball bouncing off him etc. Let's give him a decent run in the side and then judge him.BabylonClaret wrote:Have you actually watched his cameos? So you said it could be a good bit of business and seemed all for it, and now you're saying it was a mental signing.BabylonClaret wrote:Vydra i like the look of and could be a good piece of business.
How was it a mental signing without hindsight?

Re: The Vydra Question
Fair point Frank. You have me there
But if we're not playing him because (insert reason here) then ultimately it's a waste isn't it? We don't know what happens during the window - he came in quickly, we'd not signed anyone at all and on the face of it he's scored a lot in the Champ and might kick on. Beyond a few you tubes videos I'd not seen much but he looked ok. And if you're wanting to be positive in the summer (and lets be honest we were all were desperate for any good news by the time we signed Vydra) you're going o look at seeing the bright side.
Given he's not really featured at all (and when he has he's looked rather like Hennings) you have to wonder if we've coached him badly or we didn't scout him properly. I'd like to think we signed him on more than a few checks of you tube.

Absolutely, unfair not to give the fella a run in the team before commenting on his ability.

Re: The Vydra Question
Don't get me wrong BC, I agree that not playing him is a bit bizarre. I've just seen a few posters comment on Wells and Vydra being silly transfers, yet (and you aren't alone here), saying they were fine with the transfer at the time. Wells could still be useful for us if we go down, and Vydra was the top scorer in the Championship with something like 21 goals and a goal every 2 games. He could still end up being extremely useful for us - even if that is next season in the Championship.
The fact remains though that if we do go down, we have 2 players (Wood and Vydra) who were the Championship top scorers prior to joining us. It's not a bad backup, if we do go down. It seems to me that buying the brilliant Premier League players is very difficult for a club like Burnley. The location, the wages, the (possible) relegation clause, it all adds up and I'm sure turns most players off joining.

As we have no skill players available we are limited to hooooooooofball. The minimum requirement is 6’2”. Vydra fails this test but does make a lovely cup of tea.

Re: The Vydra Question
On a serious note. He’s clearly not a dyche signing. Why else would he be on the bench and barely featuring. Dyche isn’t going to sign a player then refuse to play him. I fear he is making a point by not playing him.
There is no logic to Dyche not playing his own record signing or one of.
If his other expensive signings.
He played Hendrick through awful form.
He played and plays Wood constantly when in awful form.
He plays Brady whenever fit.
He plays defour whenever fit.
Vydra like Wells and Hennings and Vossen will be forever a mystery. I said it early days.

How Dyche can keep someone on the bench who has ability and offers us something different, when a blind man on a galloping horse can see that BIG hoof up front isn't working, yet changes a big man for another big man and more of the same which still won't work, just to make a point
There is nobody bigger than the club, and to go out of your way to not utilise every option available to you and get the best result possible would be managerial suicide for me.
If this is true, Garlick should be fuming and end this ego tug of war ASAP.

Re: The Vydra Question
To be fair, it's not very likely that Dyche is not playing Vydra to prove a point.
I've no doubt that when Dyche tweaks the system to get us attacking with a bit more verve, Vydra will feature prominently.
If fit, I reckon he'll play v. West Ham.

Dunno how many games we have to play when we are up against it before people realise that Bardksley is what we need in a defender over Lowton. He just brings soooooooooo much more. Better footballer than Lowton? No. Want him beside you in your team when you are in a fight? YES.
Barnes out left? What have you seen from him that suggests this is where his future is?
I admire your aspirations, but I thank Christ you aren’t around when team selection is required.

Cork
Westwood
Hendrick
Vokes
Barnes.
Lump it forward and see what happens? One plan and one plan only ?
