Does anybody, these days, really give much credence to the discredited so called honours list.

I've just had a quick look at who got a gong and was not surprised to see that we have now got Dame Twiggy. WTF.

For me the best response was filmmaker Ken Loach who in 1977 on being offered an OBE said "it's not a club you want to join when you look at the villains who got it"

And it has got worse since then.

For what it's worth I like the idea of the honours list but it needs to be totally revamped to get rid of the establishment element and the political cronyism.

The only good thing about the “honours” is the list of the “non-famous” that are recognised for the work they do.

Local people like John Clough & Mel Goodship who have raised awareness through their own tragedies in losing loved ones are more deserving of their MBE’s than the so called celebs who are “just doing their jobs”
