Importance of that Heaton save

Huge, you could see how much more confidence the team and back four had with Tom organising but that save was ridiculous, clean sheet will be a massive boost - well done Tom

And the reaction from the lads in front of him who were straight to him to congratulate him on the save. Togetherness rarely seen this season.

And equally important (imo) coming and catching a cross shortly afterwards.

It was one of those genuine world class reaction saves.
If Tom had been lined up playing for the top six or so clubs, it would wear out the TV sports progs.

It was a top, top drawer save...

Let's not act like Hart hasn't made some equally impressive saves this season mind...

I do agree that a couple of minutes later claiming that cross was huge though.

Dyche already said in the interviews I posted that Hart was the first up off the bench applauding the Heaton save. For any faults Hart has lets not make him out to be a tosspot cause he clearly isn't

Agreed. Too many vilifying Hart who has generally had a good season and seems like a good egg. Something felt right with Tom between the sticks today though.

Agree completely. Hart has done his best for us and I feel a little for him because he must be so uncertain once again about his future. We probably need to try to move him on.

That was some bloody save, Jesus. CAROLL threw is head back and gave it the full monty, our Tom tipped it on to the bar.

Tom won't be going anywhere now, he is staying put

In the grand scheme of things, it was probably more important as a statement that Heaton doesn't plan on giving up the shirt easily as in the context of the match - even if it had gone in, I think we'd have held on.

But it was a superb save. It's only right to say that Hart has also made terrific saves this season at times, but I can't recall one that good. The reflexes were superb to get the right mit to it, but he was able to make it because he did stay right on his line but got himself a little bit further forwards, and made himself as big a target as possible. That's one thing Heaton is very good at.

He looked gutted as he walked to the bench prior to kick off.
He got a decent round of applause, but did not respond to it.
I must admit I felt a little sorry for him, but a change was needed and in the end, justified.

I can't see Hart getting the shirt back any time soon and you have to wonder where that leaves his career. He's now been dropped by us, West Ham, Torino and City in the last couple of years.

To be fair, its not a bad list of clubs to be dropped from. Mine includes Broadfield metro's and Ossy St Mary's 6th's; but I get your point... I'm sure he'll be fine...

I’d be miserable to. Five teams have dropped him in the last few years.
He’ll need to go a lot lower now if he has any chance to rebuild his career.

That claiming of the cross late on was mega important. If Hart had been playing certain goal 2-1 then hanging on desperately till the end of the game

Bit over the top with your ‘traitor’ wording. We have two better keepers who are now fit so be in our favour to move Hart on.

Show me video footage of Hart being first up off that bench. I’ve not seen anything yet but unless there’s footage I don’t think anyone knows who was first off that bench -it’s just good management from Dyche. He’s said the right thing.

I agree. I felt sorry for Hart too. He’s shown a passion for us and deservedly been player of the month a couple of times since he arrived. He’s not done much wrong at all. He’s just not the right keeper for us in our situation at present. Doesn’t mean he’s not still a good goalkeeper. But in the position we are in, we need someone who is dominant, a talker, a taker....that’s Tom to a tee. It was so good to have him back today and to reestablish that chemistry at the back. It’s clear the lads love Tom and respond to him and he’s an excellent communicator and a top club captain. Welcome back Tom but hate that Hart is being made out as some sort of villain.

Great save but I think his header was more significant. Not just because it started the build up to a goal but it demonstrated a calmness and command of the situation which could only have a positive impact on those in front of him.
