18 million? Idiots. If they'd waited 4 weeks they might have been able to go in with a bid of 17.8.

Re: Tammy Abraham
Next. Would have been way out of our wage bracket.

Re: Tammy Abraham
£18m seems a lot on paper but in theory he should only go from strength to strength. He struggled in a poor Swansea team last season but his combined record for Bristol City and Aston Villa is very impressive for a lad of his age; 42 goals in 68 apps. It certainly seems to suggest he can step up a level in the right team. Wolves is probably the right club for him. Lots of pace and attacking threat in the team already so he should get chances. Could prove to be a bargain this one.gawthorpe_view wrote:Chelsea have accepted Wolves' £18,000,000 bid for Tammy Abrahams.

Re: Tammy Abraham
£18m is about right. It's the wages that will be huge. I imagine as it's Wolves, he'll be on close to 100k a week.jlup1980 wrote:£18m seems a lot on paper but in theory he should only go from strength to strength. £18m is a bargain for someone so young when you look at Wood's and Jay Rods prices.

wages will be a problem and don't think for what weekly wages he would want he is good enough

Re: Tammy Abraham
It's been reported that the forward has a clause in his contract allowing him to cancel his loan at Villa Park should he wish to, and that Premier League football is of interest to him.Quickenthetempo wrote:I think all clubs insert clauses with breaks available in the January window.
Also you can still sell an asset that's on loan somewhere else, like Chelsea trying to sign Higuaín from Juventus who is on loan to AC Milan for the year.
Abraham didn't pull up any trees in the premier league last time but is a year older and experienced. Done alright in a very attacking Villa side and we need a pacy striker. I would only consider if we bought him.
Is this common then for players to have clauses like this, big blow to Villa's promotion push.
It makes sense for Wolves to bag a natural goalscorer, they create plenty of chances but haven't got a poacher to gobble them up.

Re: Tammy Abraham
I'm not sure this is sinking in with some people
Wages are the issue, not the transfer fees.
£18 million is a good price, but its the wage demands that we tend to get blown out on.

Not sure either, how often do you see the "£100million tv money = £100million to spend on signings" type post.taio wrote:Most people are well aware of that
Totally ignoring the wage demands attached to any signing and forgetting the tens of millions we already spend paying the players we already have.

Re: Tammy Abraham
From twitter matt law from daily telegraph . Chelsea have NOT accepted a bid from Wolves for Tammy Abraham. Together with the player they will assess whether or not he stays at Villa for the remainder of the season or goes elsewhere. No decision taken yet.

Re: Tammy Abraham
Will this lead the way for Villa signing Vokes? And us signing a replacement ?
Re: Wolves have bid accepted for Tammy Abraham
I would have thought given they are already likely to stay up that they would have gone for better than TA.
Re: Tammy Abraham
I'm pretty sure we have a number of players matching the wages he's on now. Our wages aren't that low.Reecey1987 wrote:I know that we wont be able to match his wages hes on now

Re: Tammy Abraham
I think some might need to reset their expectations if they are turning their nose up at a 21 year old full England international, with a pretty much 1 in 2 strike rate. if not, I fear football isn't for you, as you're never going to see the players you expect playing for Burnley.

BBC reporting that Abraham is staying at Villa rather than go on loan to Wolves.
A lot will now depend on whether or not Chelsea recall him and possibly accept a bid for him from someone.

Anyone know what happened to this lad? Didn’t really look much of a prospect assume he’s down the non league?

Re: Tammy Abraham
Can they do that? I thought it was a season long loan and it was the borrowing club who could send him back?Ashingtonclaret46 wrote:BBC reporting that Abraham is staying at Villa rather than go on loan to Wolves.
