I wish we could sign a Joey Barton type.
of all the players in the last few seasons who have pulled on that claret and blue top, Joey gave it everything he had every game. What a brilliant example of a player he was in his latter years as a pro in the Premier league. We have missed a battler in the middle this season.

I thought the point you made was that he was a good player for us in the PL by the fact you made a post saying so.

Re: I wish we could sign a Joey Barton type.
12 starts plus 2 sub appearances for us in the Premier League.
When I saw him at Colne Muni earlier in the year he was asked if he'd like to come back. He said he'd love it but we'd moved on and we needed better players than him now. No one can ever question is commitment for us and the contribution he made over the two spells he was with us.

14 games for us in the EPL must be a record. Hope we can sign someone to play that many games for us.

Wanyama would be an awesome signing for us,but well out of our wage bracket sadly.taio wrote:Reports Spurs are looking to move him on.
Re: I wish we could sign a Joey Barton type.
Wanyama would be brilliant - even on loan. Unfortunately there would be a host of clubs after him if he is available
Re: I wish we could sign a Joey Barton type.
Not suggesting he'd come here but he's not out of our wage bracket if the deal was right.tiger76 wrote:Wanyama would be an awesome signing for us,but well out of our wage bracket sadly.
Re: I wish we could sign a Joey Barton type.
Wanyama and Dembele from Spurs would be a nice pairing to bring in. Both probably available and extremely classy midfielders. Even if we were in the top half again this season I think the wages are well beyond what we’re willing to pay. As it is, I don’t expect anything bar loans unless we have an extraordinary January and approach the deadline a good 6 points plus above the bottom three.

Westwood has put far better performances in for us in the premier league than Joey ever did.

Open thread - add all of our random thoughts - carnage. Thankfully SD has a bit more understanding than we do of the game hence we are in our 3rd season in the Premier League.
Would I welcome a strong holding and ball winning midfielder? Of course but I have no idea who ...

rumours are that Dembele is off to north America. Plenty of players like Wanyama play in France

I would have liked to have seen us sign Joe Allen but he went to Stoke instead, presumably on extortionate wages that we couldn't get anywhere near to.

You've got a good memory! I've not seen them in over 10 years although still close friends with one who I went to college with. If we did get back together I suspect you would be the only one in the audience haha! All our tracks are available on Spotify/Apple Music apparently if you fancied a trip down memory lane.Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote:Hi burnleybassman - any chance of an Everstrong reunion?

I'm planning on releasing my own solo material later this year fingers crossed.
