Football fans to embark on 26 mile walk from Burnley to Huddersfield

FOOTBALL fans have been set a mammoth challenge of completing a 26 mile walk from East Lancashire to West Yorkshire.

Burnley FC chairman Mike Garlick will be leading the trek from Turf Moor to Huddersfield next Wednesday.

It will start from Burnley's football ground at 8am and it is hoped people will complete the walk to John Smith's stadium by 6pm.

The two football teams will then play each other in the Premier League mid-week fixture on January 2, with kick off set for 7.45pm

Donations of more than £17,000 have been made to two charities, Burnley FC in the Community and Alzheimer's Society, for the event. The total funds raised will be divided evenly between them both.
