Shelvey should have gone. But I meant Burnley players. It's not our bag, which is why it's so odd as it's so out of character.quoonbeatz wrote:already seen 2 worse ones on motd tonight

I still think it's a red for Brady but, having just seen Shelveys on Pogba; again we question any sort of consistency from referees.

Re: Brady
Shelvies was the old fashioned run your studs down the calf tackle. ******* coward. Brady's was a stupid attempt to stop a man from carrying on going forward. Probably a red for being so dense next time Robbie watch do a luke shaw

Brady’s challenge when he got injured at Leicester was worse.
There have been many many worse challenges than tonight’s in the last 20 years.
And no i’m not going to name anymore !

Re: Brady
Mbenza didn't even get spoken to after squaring up and being aggressive. Typical Mike "look at me" Dean.
Re: Brady
Westwood should have taken out the man before Brady.
Brady was left in a bad situation, he couldn't just step across the man or trip him, the distance and momentum was against him. In a split second he made a decision, the correct one, to foul the man. You need players to make those fouls for you and I don't think Brady deserves any dogs for it. He's becoming a bit of a whipping boy.
There's absolutely no way that he wants to miss any further time out, he took that Red for the team, remember that.

Having seen it again on MOTD and seen some of the other non-Reds in other games, I'd say Mike Dean was trying to level the playing field.
If Brady's was a Red, what was Shelvey's on Pogba? Er... nothing !

Re: Brady
It isn't a red. It's a stupid cynical challenge. You see these sort of challenges to stop a man every game. If he was going for the ball then fair enough for the red but he's doing what they call a professional (taking one for the team) foul.

Re: Brady
I agree with the MOTD pundits, it wasn't a red, certainly a yellow. Mike Dean was very poor as usual.
Re: Brady
I suppose all this "take one for the team" idea is that we are desperately frightened of Huddersfield's silky skills in open play, but when it comes to a dead ball and all their top goalscorers (defenders) get the chance to get forward, we can't possibly concede?
For me, quite apart from the yellow card, Brady put us in a worse position. Dead balls are where Huddersfield get most of their goals from.

Foolish to give the ref the option to 'even things out' for the home fans. Home bias is a statistical fact.

Re: Brady
Which means Doucoure will be available for the match against us in a few weeks time while Brady will be serving a suspension for a significantly lesser challenge.Goodclaret wrote:Not a good night for refs at all - Shelvy, Lacelles, Doucoure and the Bournemouth lad all done more than Brady and all stay on the pitch!??

Yep, and how many set pieces have we conceeded in that sort of area? Off the top of my head recently: Everton, Liverpool - Liverpool last minute of a shirt pull last season to lose 2-1!dsr wrote:I suppose all this "take one for the team" idea is that we are desperately frightened of Huddersfield's silky skills in open play, but when it comes to a dead ball and all their top goalscorers (defenders) get the chance to get forward, we can't possibly concede?

Re: Brady
********, never a red. "Both feet off the ground" is a nailed on red when you're going to hurt someone, when you're coming into the tackle facing the guy you're tackling. It's a cynical leg up, absolute joke decision.

If he’d stayed on his feet and clipped him it would have been a yellow. Refs like Dean don’t need any encouragement.

Very clever from Brady. We’ve missed him. Had to do it. The man was moving away with pace. A (say) 25% chance of a goal became a 5% one from the free kick. Some are calling it a scissor tackle. I’d like to introduce them to a good optician.
