FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
I was out with my mate on New Years Eve...he is a regional manager for Corals and we got talking about last nights match .I couldn't believe we were 14/5 and after the way we played on Sunday decided to have a punt...my first ever bet on the Clarets...happy days .Great game last night couldn't go but my grandson is a Terriers fan and he was distraught...funny old world isn't it ?

I put a fiver on Barnes and Wood to score and Bardsley and Mee to be carded. £630 return.

I thought so, hadn't realised Bardsley had been booked before going off.
Surprised when I checked my bet in the car on the way home. Good night all round!

That's one hell of a random bet. Fair play.Diggs291212 wrote:I thought so, hadn't realised Bardsley had been booked before going off.

Be careful betting. Don't buy into the 'culture' that all those adverts try to create, that betting is something "the lads" do and is a great craic. The more you bet, the more you lose. And it's often these kind of unexpected wins that can get people hooked. I heard a really sad story on 5Live recently which ended with the young bloke taking his own life.

Re: FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
we were 4.3 ( 10/30 ) on betfair for the game last night just after our game against west ham.....clearly that price was never going to drift and we were around 3.7 at the whistle last night....a good opportunity for a free bet....back the 4.3...lay the 3.7...if you are comfortable trading decent figures there was a free bet at around 1.55 to be had....or £500 quid plus profit after commision on betfair if your stake was a grand....those prices are formed a few days in advance and our new formation was not taken into account....if the prices were formed after the west ham game then I doubt if many bookies would have gone 5/2 or bigger.
that would have been the season ticket paid for and a beer or 2.

Is this not matched betting? And don't betting companies suspend your account for doing this?happyclaret17 wrote:we were 4.3 ( 10/30 ) on betfair for the game last night just after our game against west ham.....clearly that price was never going to drift and we were around 3.7 at the whistle last night....a good opportunity for a free bet....back the 4.3...lay the 3.7...if you are comfortable trading decent figures there was a free bet at around 1.55 to be had....or £500 quid plus profit after commision on betfair if your stake was a grand....those prices are formed a few days in advance and our new formation was not taken into account....if the prices were formed after the west ham game then I doubt if many bookies would have gone 5/2 or bigger.

Wow nice punt the 650/1 shot nice one! I too thought we was way overpriced. After the arsenal defeat I had a punt on Burnley 5/2 and Bradford 7/2 both to stay up! Bradford have won 3 in a row I think there a shade of odds on now.I have made a small fortune on season bets over the last few years, but I do lay them when I am in a win/win situation.Currently just took 6/4 on hull for a top half finish.looking to lay Leeds now to now be promoted bound to blow up again

Re: FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
No its not matched betting its done through the betfair exchange...you can get as much on as you like...its just trading...make your knowledge of burnley football club pay....we were never a 5/2 shot to win last night let alone 10/3.....the exotic bets are nice but bets like last nights are good opportunities to make decent money for no risk. Bookies will now be quoting our odds a little closer to what they should be. Just hope Bardsley is going to be ok for Fulham.Foulthrow wrote:Is this not matched betting? Re: FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
You're relying on the price changing though aren't you? And you're relying on someone accepting your bet - so potentially you could bet big and no-one comes in to accept your lay. And then there could be a draw and your knackered. Think you need to be careful in making it sound so simple. If it was surely everyone would be on it.happyclaret17 wrote:No its not matched betting its done through the betfair exchange...you can get as much on as you like...its just trading...make your knowledge of burnley football club pay....we were never a 5/2 shot to win last night let alone 10/3.....the exotic bets are nice but bets like last nights are good opportunities to make decent money for no risk. Re: FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
you have to have the confidence to know the market will change....talking after the event is easy but worst scenario was that we could have drifted to 4.5 tops if maybe an injury or 2 had transpired after the west ham game...that means you can trade out for a small loss....the up side was always going to be bigger than the down side....if you want guaranteed profit then just dont trade because nothing is guaranteed....but the market was 90 odd percent certain to move last night considering huddersfield had lost 7 on the bounce and we had started playing in the oppositions half.Foulthrow wrote:You're relying on the price changing though aren't you? Re: FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
It is as simple as happy says and your right everyone should be on it.But you would need a couple of grand in your exchange account which makes it difficult for most peopleFoulthrow wrote:You're relying on the price changing though aren't you? Re: FIRST EVER CLARETS BET
there are opportunities about if you scan the results....but remember you want the market for the 2nd game ( huddersfield in our case ) to be available when the first game is playing ( west ham in our case )....the market for 2nd game should already be formed and you need a good reason why the team should be backed ( in our case mc neil improving the team and Bardsley playing instead of Lowton )....most markets at kick off will be a reasonable reflection of the teams chances and its the early prices that can offer value.
