Zios Barroford
Apparently they have closed, does anyone know what happened ?
We had been fairly regular visitors for many years and always enjoyed the place.

I originally read it as Zios Bamford and thought it would be a younger brother of the car park crying violinist.

Re: Zios Barroford
Evidently Zio's failed to pay the rent. There was a bailiff type notice up on the door when I walked past recently.
I split my time between St Albans and Barrowford (I'm not ashamed of the Nelson in my Barrowford address btw) and noticed that a new place was about to open in the same row as Zio's having been newly refurbished to what seems a very good standard. This is called Will's and I think is a bar/restaurant and possible source of pizza in future.

Re: Zios Barroford
Went into Will's bar on NYE and it was full of people, they are opening up on 9th January for drink and then start doing food in early February. The guy that has it used to be the manager of Turners so he will know what he's doing with the target market he is aiming for. Sad to see Zios shut really, food was ok and was better seeing it open rather than closed.Stalbansclaret wrote:Evidently Zio's failed to pay the rent. Do you mean all of it? Kings causeway,? Hillsborough Ave area.? The newly developed Quakers Bridge area? The total revamp of brierfield mills into a modern social hub that Burnley fc in the community are involved with? The canal boat marina with cafe that is soon to be under construction?Murger wrote:That won't last 2 minutes then. Re: Zios Barroford
Saw this ans assumed it would be a 'fake' italian. If its zios will definitely give it a go. Think its just up the road from connolleys on colne road.bfcmatt wrote:The Chef has opened a small Italian Restaurant / Cafe in brier field
Foods always decent at zios and if theyve opened up a cafe suspect the food will actually be better and better for them. Was always quiet during the week at zios and seemed a waste having such a nice place empty.
The thai cafes have all taken off and the italian cafe in burnley is great (was there yesterday).

Re: Zios Barroford
I was buying a new build at Quakers Bridge and it was one of the last houses completed.
When we went to view prior to completion there was tons of soil dumped on the sloping garden
I queried this and explained that I wanted the gargen levelling and was told that the Eiger was staying. The builders refused to pay any monies lodged as deposit back.
My worry of landslide onto the patio windows was bourne out a few weeks later. But we had moved into an older house by then

Re: Zios Barroford
Seems pretty disrespectful to the hard work that has been put in by local people, planners, pearl regeneration, barnfield, Andrew Stephenson etc to breathe new life into this area over the last few years.
Everyone is trying to improve the image of brierfield in a positive way for the residents and visitors so sweeping statements like yours are neither correct, helpful or welcome.

Re: Zios Barroford
Brierfield stretchers from Nelson golf course to just before the bypass, most of it is not a shithole. Like any areas there are rough bits, run down parades of shops and unsavoury characters. However there are plenty of decent, hard working people and businesses providing good quality produce. The new houses near the train station and the recently renovated mill (which we are led to believe has lots more to come) are all positive improvements.
The richest boroughs in the country have problems- it’s not isolated to Brierfield or similar towns.

Re: Zios Barroford
Marina in Nelson?, There's one at Reedley, behind the old Barden Mill site, is there to be another in Nelson?
Re: Zios Barroford
The marina is in the plans for the ongoing mill renovation. They have started clearing the area behind the mill on the canal in preparation. The whole mill project is going to take around 5 years. It's a huge project.
Re: Zios Barroford
Yeah, not bothered. I stand by my statement that most parts of Brierfield are sh*tholes. Halifax Rd, around and behind the co-op are disgusting.thomaspaine wrote:Your post says more about you than the town.

I grew up in brierfield my parents still live there, I now hate the town it's horrible but there are horrible parts to every town clitheroe has some horrible parts , Manchester is a complete dump , unfortunately you can't get away from the fact that it's the people that live there that are the problem not the place ,pushpinpussy wrote:i take it the people on here who are defending Brierfield are natives of that hole. There are some stunning properties within the area located in beautiful countryside which the affluent decide to live in so it's not about poverty in some cases but about choice

Re: Zios Barroford
A marina in Nelson ? Will it have a dock for super yachts ? So the likes of Abramovich and assorted Oligarchs can pop in ? Perhaps it will have cruise liners stopping off, disgorging their 1000’s into the vibrant cultural heartland of Nelson . The Cannes of the north . I may have the place mixed up but the Nelson I visited last yr resembled some Asian ghetto ?

I can confirm the newly opened pizzeria don Giovanni (formerly the Fat Cat)is being run by Giovanni who used to be a chef at Zio's.He's doing all the cooking at the moment until he gauges demand. Its open 9a.m til 2p.m then 5p.m til 10p.m daily.Closed monday. From what people have said to me its very good.
