Unconvincing win, but given our recent history, it'll do.

Cheers for the company.

Good penalty there. But what was the defender doing?

I think it was cruel on Barnsley but there is no doubting that the importance of the game can be reflected in the fact that we made so many changes and also by the fact that there weren't huge numbers of home support.

Tarky easy MOTM.
McNeil excellent for the first 65 mins then looked shot.

We looked gash though against a poor team.

Lets get a top Championship team away and maybe we could pull off a shock giant killing result by beating them

Positives:
We won
Game time for Defour,Ward & Pope(+cleansheet)
Wood scores for third successive match
McNeil just gets better, tired last20mins again.
Negatives:
Vokes and Vydra did nothing to worry Barnes & Wood over who starts.
Awful passing
Another round means another cup tie to watch.

In normal circumstances the performances are just as important as the results, but not today.
The result was everything, because we don't want to lose that momentum going into the Fulham match. We were turgid at times, but so what.

Yeah but we had a lot of folks replaced or out of position. Once the shape was more balanced we looked better.

Barnsley worked hard but ultimately aside from a couple of free kicks cheaply conceded late on they created nothing.

We created 2 or 3 good chnaces but our woodentops up front fluffed them

We weren't at our best, but all respect to Barnsley they put in a good performance and it was an unfortunate way for them to lose.

Nice to see Pope, Wardy and Defour return to the pitch. Dwight put in another creditable performance, hopefully his young legs will recover quickly for Fulham, because he look Knackered at the end of the full 90 mins.

The match should generate a bit of media coverage for VAR.
