Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
Just been dumped out of the FA Cup by Accy. Its the NINTH season a row they have gone out in the 3rd round (Not won an FA Cup game since 2010)
Currently in there 17th consecutive season in the Championship without going up or down (The longest time by far compared to other teams)
It could be worse we could be Ipswich.
Maybe this season they will end the run and gp down ? (Tbh if i was a fan i wouldnt mind going down and having a fresh start)

Oldham were even worse at one point. Wasnt it 20 years in league one?
Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
They're definitely going down this year.
What a mistake it was to appoint to the self-appointed pessimist Paul Hurst as the manager.

McCarthy kept their heads above water for years.

Rochdale had been in League 2/Div 3/Div 4 for something like that amount of time before they got promoted a few years agocricketfieldclarets wrote:Oldham were even worse at one point. Wasnt it 20 years in league one?
EDIT - just read that up until their promotion in 2010 they had spent 36 consecutive years in the 4th tier and have spent the longest cumulative amount of seasons in the bottom tier than anybody else

Arsenal and Everton fans most be bored out of their heads, haven’t they spent forever in the same division?

Yeah but they generally stay in cups longer to play lower teams and get to travel around Europe most years.RammyClaret61 wrote:Arsenal and Everton fans most be bored out of their heads, haven’t they spent forever in the same division?
Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
Apparently their fans were singing " Accrington Stanley,we'll see you next year !! "

Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
If I've ever had a "second team" then it had Mills, Butcher, Beattie, Muhren, Wark and Mariner in it.
They certainly weren't boring then.

Chester spent their first 55 years or so in division three north or division four without ever going up or down.

Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
No doubt ITFC are having a 'mare. The fans all appear to have accepted the inevitable and their only remaining ambition for this season is to not be beaten by Naaarrrredge. I've lived down here for 25 years + now and I think it's a great place. I'd love to know what constitutes 'boring' to some posters. The heritage coast is magnificent, the countryside (especially in South Suffolk) is beautiful and varied, the architectural and historical heritage is quite stunning. I'd challenge anyone with an ounce of culture not to be blown away by Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham, Hadleigh or other similar places, even Ipswich and Norwich themselves, if you look above the shop fronts and beyond the centre have much to offer. Plenty for the youngsters to do in the larger towns. Statistically it's the driest part of the UK. Adnams and Greene King make some fine ales and there are some great smaller breweries also. Only a short train ride into London from most parts. Relatively low crime. Once you've got used to the six fingers and remains of a tail then the people are OK too. The only negative for me is that it's a long way from t' Turf. Most of my Lancastrian friends and relatives who have visited love it and always want to come back. Having said that I still open the curtains in the morning and wonder where all the hills have gone!! UTC EAC

You forgot to mention Southwold EAClaret. For me the finest seaside resort in the country. You sold EA well, sure you don't work for the Tourist Board down there.

Fanx AL, for me also Southwold is one of the jewels of the heritage coast, it's like stepping back in time with the bonus of a fab brewery to boot!! And Walberswick.........magical. The Coastal walk from Covehithe to Felixstowe is magnificent (if you can blank out Sizewell!). I would encourage anyone to spend the 3-4 days it takes to walk it...stop over in Southwold, Aldeburgh, Orford as required. Orford Ness is brill......like being on a Dr Who set! We've got everything from the Saxons and The Vikings (and earlier) to the development of the H-Bomb!!

It's a great place to live but as stated a long way from home. Been in Suffolk 23 years but all grown up kids still support Burnley!

I’ve just spent 4 days in Rochdale, visiting family. It was four days too long. My God it’s dank and depressing up North
Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
Been in Norfolk 22 years and I love it. Agree with everything ea Claret has written. Lovely place for my kids to grow up.

1931/32 to 1974/75, so 37 seasons minus the war years. A fair amount of time that.dsr wrote:Chester spent their first 55 years or so in division three north or division four without ever going up or down.

Coventry had 50 seasons without a promotion until last season.

Imagine writing such a wonderful post advocating for your part of the country and then ruining it all with the word 'Fanx'. Spades will be round your house to sort you out.eastanglianclaret wrote:Fanx AL, for me also Southwold is one of the jewels of the heritage coast, it's like stepping back in time with the bonus of a fab brewery to boot!! Although pretty soon in the history of Earth it will be East Anglia-Under-the-Water.
Also a bit flat for me but agree with EAC although not in as great a depth as I do not know it as he/she does.
I think Lavenham is a delightful place steeped in history

Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
Probably better for them to go down and start again like Sunderland have done. If I supported them think I'd be looking forward to a few different away days!

Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
The fans drove Mick McCarthy out of the club after they'd finished 9th, 6th, 7th, 16th and 12th and this despite not having a pot to **** in. They've got exactly what they deserve.

Re: Ipswich Town - The most boring team to support
Southwold has been horribly spoiled by being turned into "Hampstead-on-Sea" by the constant influx of middle class Londoners and has gone all Edinburgh Woollen Mill. Got charged £3.95 for a toasted teacake in Walberswick , just outside Southwold last year.... the place is definitely up it's own backside big time now, as great as it used to be.
Feel a bit sorry for the football club and they used to be a great team back in the '70s but even then I always somehow found them dull.
