Barnsley Fans
Apart from the flare was there some bother in the CF today?
Looked to be at least 1 fan removed during the game.

Not much novelty in their repertoire nor much noise considering it was their cup final.

Bless him or her, they brought a flare for their big afternoon out then realised they weren’t going to get to use it so set it off when they went 1-0 down. What a wonderful act of rebellion, defiance and outright die-hard support. Not.CoolClaret wrote:Most tinpot flare of all time.
The ‘trouble’ looked like the typical gesturing and chest-beating that goes on when a line of stewards are stood between two groups of football supporters.

You could hear on the stream, "Premier League, you're having a laugh", although lower league fans seem to sing that regardless.

Must admit I did chuckle a little when the penalty went in. Too cold to laugh out loud.

Reminded me of Rovers fans setting their flare off when we beat them 2.0 other year.
Re: Barnsley Fans
When we scored I was tempted to chant Premier League and having a laugh.

Not sure where she had been working, but after the game there was a female steward being wheeled along the front of the Bob Lord by St Johns, on a stretcher.
Hopefully nothing serious or related to any trouble.

The Barnsley fans I personally know are very bitter,a few of them hoping we get relegated !
Harsh I think,I didn't mind Barnsley before this match but i'm quickly going off them.

I surprised the majority were sat down and relatively quiet for a game against higher opposition. Mate was sat with his two young children near divide and said at h/t there were a few annoying Barnsley fans.
Best thing about today was the programme...and the penalties of course

Good numbers, but quiet generally, to say they were looking the more likely to win it as the game wore on.

A few of them managed to get away from a police escort called to a pub they were in coming over the tops, they could have caused some inconvenience to some locals however a quick thinking shepherd closed the gate and set his dogs on them.

Re: Barnsley Fans
Impressed with Barnsley to be honest. Thought that they tried to play some good football and it was an exceptional turnout from their supporters for a 12.30pm kick off. I’m not sure I would have gone to Oakwell had the fixture been reversed. Can’t believe the grief they are getting on this thread. Think I’d rather have a chat with a Barnsley fan about footy than some plastic Man Yoo or Citeh fan any day of the week.

Agreed, impressed by their support (perhaps a compliment really that we are now considered a potential giant to be slayed). Did look like a few cops got involved when the flare went off towards the top of the stand but I couldn't see anything serious.

Re: Barnsley Fans
You'd think they'd have waited until they'd scored before they cracked that out. Heard them singing it before two Burnley free kicks, and, bizarrely, after we scored, which renders it somewhat moot. Mind you, they let a flare off when we scored as well, so maybe they'd got confused between Burnley and Barnsley as well.FactualFrank wrote:You could hear on the stream, "Premier League, you're having a laugh", although lower league fans seem to sing that regardless.

Nothing wrong with just singing it back to them like we did in JHL today. THe truth is we are PL and we had a laugh today

Re: Barnsley Fans
It was a relatively short journey. I'd be disappointed if a 41.5 mile journey was seen as a deterrent to attending a football match given I have a journey of 127 miles each way for a home game - and I have a season ticket! And I am pretty certain am not the season ticket holder with the longest journey.Foulthrow wrote:... it was an exceptional turnout from their supporters for a 12.30pm kick off. I was also bemused by the Barnserley chant. I’m used to the Bunrerley chant, much like the Wemberley one, but I’ve never heard it like that before.

Didn't hear a peep out of them all game. In terms of noise relevant to numbers, they were the worst fans at Turf Moor in years.

Their fans weren’t very vocal considering they sold out, that’s for sure. I’d have expected a bigger range of songs as well, rather than a couple of rip offs and some songs I forgot existed since we’ve been in the Premier League (“Burnley’s a sh**hole” and “Premier League, you’re having a laugh”).
How very lower league.
