Cricketfield Stand For Kids?
Cricketfield Stand For Kids?
My son keeps pestering me to go with him to the stand that has a 'good atmosphere'!
He's 12 years old. I've not been in the cricketfield end with the seating plan the way it has now next to the away fans before. Would I be mad taking my son in there or not?

It’s fine I have been taking my 2 in there for years. They are 11 and 13 now

He would be fine.
Obviously there might be a bit more 'language' but at 12 he can probably teach you more than he would learn in there anyway.
Only thing I would say is get in early, dont go down at half time and leave last. Otherwise with one way in and out it can be very compact under the stand.

Liverpool used to have a "kids pen" on the Kop 60s and 70s when the Kop was a standing area And crowds swayed maybe three foot plus in all directions! Not sure the have one now

There's loads of kids down at the front of the stand.
The only problem my two lads 12 and 14 is they like to go the toilet in cubicles instead of the packed out urinals. There can be quite a queue for the two (yes only two) cubicles in the stand, mainly with young lads powdering their noses.

Two cubicles for upwards of a thousand fans...you can't make it up.Quickenthetempo wrote:There's loads of kids down at the front of the stand.

Perhaps it's more considerate to have a turnout before you leave home?tim_noone wrote:Two cubicles for upwards of a thousand fans...you can't make it up.

I'm one of those people who can never understand others not being able to hold it in for a few hours at cinema's, theatres or on aeroplane's so I'll be alright. My son has an iron cast bladder too. I'll have a think and will probably try it out for a match and see how we go. Thanks for the info guys. There can be quite a queue for the two (yes only two) cubicles in the stand

There's plenty of urinals and easy to go before and after halftime.BigChaCha wrote:I'm one of those people who can never understand others not being able to hold it in for a few hours at cinema's, theatres or on aeroplane's so I'll be alright. Thers plenty of room for you and your kids at the front every game
Re: Cricketfield Stand For Kids?
My daughter is 9 and has a season ticket. Being going a few years now.
Safety wise not a problem, only potential issue is that most people stand, so he will need to stand.
Never had any issues. Obviously the language/chants will have swear words.

Perhaps the 4 or 5 pints pre-match goes someway towards some bladder issues with a few of them....BigChaCha wrote:I'm one of those people who can never understand others not being able to hold it in for a few hours at cinema's, theatres or on aeroplane's so I'll be alright. Re: Cricketfield Stand For Kids?
God forbid someone expects adequate toilet facilities at a sports stadium which is set up to cater for fans. Whether you have a few pints or not .... having the same toilet facilities as a pub does for nearly 2,000 people is madness.Bosscat wrote:Perhaps the 4 or 5 pints pre-match goes someway towards some bladder issues with a few of them....

The cricket field stand was built for home fans only... So not to be split between home and away support ... So there is only 1/3 of the toilet facilities available.
I fully understand concerns ..... and my crack about beer consumption was actually meant in jest not to be taken seriously
