The City and Tottenham 7 goal wins highlight the gulf between the top six and the lower leagues,TBF to Rotherham City can do the same to many Premier League teams.

Only some of them.tiger76 wrote:The City and Tottenham 7 goal wins highlight the gulf between the top six and the lower leagues,TBF to Rotherham City can do the same to many Premier League teams.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal are no better than in previous seasons and once the new manager bounce has gone at Man U. they might struggle against lesser opposition.

Chelsea are on 44pts after 21 games and got 70pts in total last season
Arsenal are on 41pts after 21 games and got 63pts in total last season
The top 6 have accumulated 275pts after 21 games and got 455pts in total last season
The gulf in class between the top 6 and everyone else has grown this year and when the top 6 play at the top of the game the can destroy good Premier League teams nevermind lower league teams

Chelsea had 45 pts last season after 21 games. Man City had 59. Man U had 44. Arsenal had 38 pts.
Only Liverpool & Spurs have seen significant increases in their points tally at the same stage, compared to last season.
So, three teams have increased their points total and three haven't.
That indicates it hasn't improved at all.

I agree. The top 6 have stepped it up this season..apart maybe from Manchester Utd and they are starting to click into gear as well. They have hoovered up so many points that i would hazard a guess that the points total needed to stay up will be less than usual this season. Any points gained from them are worth more this season than in the past..real bonus points.Devils_Advocate wrote:Really?

Just had a quick look.
We are 16th with 18 points after 21 games.
Last season Newcastle were 16th with 19 points after 21 games.
Even Everton have the same number of points. So basically not much different except Man City have dropped far more points and Liverpool/Spurs have increased their significantly.
Huddersfield are the struggling ones with only 10 points.

Bournemouth and West Ham have noticeably improved, the rest are much the same.bad news for Huddersfield if Swansea and West Brom couldn't survive being 6 points better off,the Terriers have to perform a miracle in the next 4 months.

Didn't realise that Huddersfield had six more points than we currently have at the same stage.tiger76 wrote:Bournemouth and West Ham have noticeably improved, the rest are much the same.bad news for Huddersfield if Swansea and West Brom couldn't survive being 6 points better off,the Terriers have to perform a miracle in the next 4 months.
Just shows how far they've fallen as well.

They did but only because they won their first 3 games,it was their early promotion bounce that saved them last season, even at this stage they were dropping like a stone, fortunately for them they had enough of a buffer to survive.Spijed wrote:Didn't realise that Huddersfield had six more points than we currently have at the same stage.

Re: Rotherham boss on Manchester City
As a further note, we took 20 points from the last 17 matches last season.
Do that this time and will see us easily survive on 38 points.
Job done!

Re: Rotherham boss on Manchester City
The top 6 have amassed 11 points more than last season, If they continue at this pace they must be near to 20 points better off at the end of the season. This means either the teams in the middle (the second league) will be nearer the bottom in terms of points or the bottom teams (third league) will require less points to stay up.
To try and guess which way this will be Everton (i use them as they are mentioned above) have the same points 27 but they were in 9th place last year after 21 games, this year they are 11th.
Teams from 7 to 15th (inclusive) have 237points this season compared to 219 this season.
The bottom teams, Huddersfield have 10 points compared to Swansea who had 16 points.
Fulham and Southampton have less points than West Ham who were 3rd from bottom.
Unless there is a dramatic turn in results last seasons mark for safety 34 points would be comfortable for any club reaching that figure.

Didn’t West Ham start to improve after dropping Joe Hart?

Without looking in depth at facts and figures, there is probably very little that the top 6 can improve on , points wise year on year is there?Spijed wrote:Chelsea had 45 pts last season after 21 games. Man City had 59. Man U had 44. Arsenal had 38 pts.
